Chapter 109 - Following Heart
"Tch," Klaytz couldn't help but click his tongue as he pulled out his sword stuck at his collar bone. Blood gushed out of the poor boy's shoulder but he didn't care as he pushed the boy in annoyance. Why won't he? He was so close to killing the girl yet he failed...
'All because of this nuisance'
Klautz had a policy of not killing the innocent. In the past life he had killed many innocent in his work as a ninja. He doesn't want to walk on that very same dark path again. If it were the old Klautz he would have eliminated all potential nuisances like this before moving onto the main battle. But in this life no innocent was harmed to his blade.
"Ow!" The boy squealed as he fell onto his butt. That was when he felt Klautz's chilling blade on his neck.
Klautz doesn't hurt the innocent. But this boy chose to side with his foe, that gave him enough reason to kill him. Indeed he hadn't killed him before and he doesn't regret that even if it cost him his prey but now? It was totally different.
"Ha ha," he laughed weirdly with a woozy face as he tried his best to maintain a smile. "I think we can talk this out. What do you say, mister?" But his fear caused his words to splutter.
"Speak!" Klautz screamed. His eyes shot daggers into the guy's eyes.
"Can you… ah," the boy said as his pupils pointed towards the sword against his neck as he bent his neck slightly. He wanted Klautz to at least put away his blade. How was he supposed to talk with his life on blade point?
*Sigh*
Klautz sighed in disappointment. He pulled back his sword causing Stefan to be all smiles. But alas in the very next moment he swung his arms and slashed it back at the boy's neck.
"Wait!" Stefan cried raising his hands and showing his palms to Klautz.
The sword stopped just inches from the guy's neck.
"I never said I won't talk." He took a deep breath as he fixed his collar.
"You know that girl … she is not a bad person, just a little scared." The boy said as he rubbed his butt.
Klautz rubbed his forehead as wrinkles formed on it.
'Just how much of a cretin these people can be?'
"Scared! My foot!" Klautz roared. "Look around yourself, you cretin!"
For some reason, the boy did follow Klautz's instructions as he twisted his head to look around. There were dead bodies all around. Some of the bodies were even burned to crisp thanks to Klautz's fire. The air was heavy with the stench of blood and the smell of charred meat and both Klautz and Stefan knew who was the cause of this.
"Ha… Ha," the boy made a woozy face yet again as he was at a loss for words. His eyes failed to meet Klautz as his pupils traveled above.
"I know I might be sounding weird but I can't let you kill that girl. You might want to kill me here if you don't want me to get in your way." The boy claimed with a poker face. He made it pretty clear that no matter what Evelyn does, he won't stand against her. What kind of a mentality was that? If Evelyn was a lunatic he was no better.
Klautz got angry as the veins of his forehead popped out. He took a deep breath to cool himself down as he pulled back his sword.
All of these people were damn annoying... Verona, Stefan both of them! But Klautz had to think with a cool mind.
*Sigh*
"That girl, Eli, what is she to you?" Klautz asked.
"It is Evelyn Lebeau for you!" Stefan claimed with a shot of energy; his eyes finally meeting Klautz only to look away in the very next moment.
Klautz could only roll his eyes in annoyance but he had pretty much figured out the picture. Klautz would have ignored it if it was anyone else but this girl was too similar to Armand and what's more? She had already made an attempt to kill Klautz.
"Why do you want to save that girl so badly?" Klautz asked.
Stefan looked away for some reason as he seemed to be lost in thought. Klautz could only scratch his neck in annoyance.
"That is, she is too similar to me. I can understand what she is going through and I know she can be saved!" He possibly didn't want to meet Klautz eyes for some reason.
Klautz slapped his own face and shook his head.
"But that doesn't explain why you would want to give up on your life for her!" Klautz rolled his eyes.
"Look at yourself! You are bleeding surrounded by a forest fire! In the near future you will either die of blood loss or by asphyxiation! Did that girl came to save you? Did that girl even gave you as such any words of gratitude when you played on your life to save her? No! She left! Not caring about you one bit. What was the point of all of this? To the girl you are of no importance, that is why she left you to die. This forest will now be your grave! Are you satisfied with your foolishness?" Klautz shouted at the top of his voice. He had to let out all he had stored up in his belly.
But there was no reply from Stefan's side.
Stefan was someone who had always followed what his heart told him to do. Someone as calculating and pragmatic as Klautz would probably never be able to wrap his head around his actions. After all, what reason was he to give if there were definitely no reasons?
But even his silence was annoying to Klautz or that is what he made it seem.
"Forget it… Just get out of my sight!"[1]
