Sol Vestitor: New Age of God

Chapter 4: Filthy Human

Chapter 4: Filthy Human

Anya is hiding behind a boulder, her right ankle swollen and her clothes torn. She tries to hold her ragged breathing, her eyes show fear and panic. Behind her, she can hear that thing's footsteps getting closer.

"khe.khe.khe that woman gets away by sacrificing her packmate so she can get away. Typical of filthy humans." Anya heard that thing's croaking voice.

It was a weak little monkey. It has lived in this mountain for years, watching humans come and go, cut their home, burn their home, capture their friends, and kill their family with their booming iron rods. They can only hide and run until the Gods give it their blessing.

It and what is left of its pack found God's blessing and they grew bigger, smarter, and wiser. Their body stands at 2.5 meters with strong arms and long tail.

They were minding their own business and looked for more of this blessing when these humans came to their territory to steal their blessing.

It runs to them and roars at them. They scream and scream, the three of them try to run but it can still get closer. The slowest one pulls the other two to the ground and keeps running.

Seeing that two of them fall it laughs, pulls one by the collar, and stares at her eyes. Horror is clear in her eyes, the same horror it saw in its family's eyes when they are about to die. Its laugh gets even louder.

If anyone sees its eyes they can see madness there while tears run down its cheek. It tore the girl's head from her body with a roar and threw both aside. It spears the other one with its long tail without looking and runs after the escaping girl.

After looking for a while, it finally finds the girl. It can hear her breathing behind a boulder loud and clear. With a burst of manic laughter, it picks the rock up with both hands, and the girl screams.

It is about to smash her into a bloody pulp when a gunshot is heard to his right. Shocked by the sound it lost its grip on the boulder and the boulder fell on its tail.

That was Sol who ran there when he heard Anya's screams. Never been shooting a gun before, his shot misses by a large margin. Luckily it lost its grip on that boulder, hence it roars painfully.

Sol hurries his trembling hand to reload his rifle when that giant monkey picks up the boulder and throws it at his face.

Sol ducks to the side and barely evades it. His heart beats so fast and his mind is going on overdrive from a near brush with death. Looking to his side where he drops his gun, he picks it up with his left hand and pulls another bullet from his pocket.

He finally finishes reloading when it is only a meter apart from him. He hurriedly shoots at it, hitting it on its left shoulder. A second late and it would have got him.

It staggers backward and its left arm lumps down. Not giving Sol another chance to reload, it picks him up by the throat and roars at his face.

Panicked, Sol pulls his knife out of its sheath and plunges it on the giant monkey's throat. It gags and throws him aside.

Sol rolls on the ground and his back hits a tree, causing him to lose his breath. He opens his blurry eyes and the giant figure tries to stop its bleeding neck with it's still working hand.

A gurgling sound can be heard coming from it, after a few minutes it falls to the side.

Seeing it falls and stays on the ground, Sol closes his eyes. He can feel his body sore all over while chilling ache deep in his bone.

After five minutes Sol tries to pull his body up with both hands to find that his left arm doesn't work, it is probably broken.

After struggling for a minute, he finally got up, on his feet.

"Anya," he thought. Sol looks around only to find there is no one around him other than the giant body.

"Anyaa..." he shouts but there is no reply.

Hearing no reply, he limps closer to the giant body. What he finds surprises him to the core. "No way," he says in his heart.

Its body is almost as good as new, it's tail that is bloody now has no wound, and the bullet wound on its left shoulder is yet almost healed.

Looking at its neck, Sol heaves a sigh of relief. "It seems that the wound from that knife is harder to heal." Its neck still has a gaping wound.

Sol scurries around to find his knife. After he finds it by a tree, he stabs the giant's neck repeatedly cutting its head off.

Finishing it off, Sol falls on his back tired, his arm numb. Suddenly he feels a warm current flowing in his body. His body is still aching but the cold air and ground feel less cold than before.

"I need to find Anya before she meets another monster like this"
