Chapter 240  238. Coward

Chapter 240  238. Coward

Alia just looked at the fading back of Amara for a second before taking step towards the exit of the ward.

"Where are you going?"

A stern remark from her mother stopped her in her track but did not deter from deciding in her heart.

"To him."

That's all she said before she was ready to take steps towards the outside.

She so badly wanted to meet him, For the first time, she was feeling this rush of unpleasant feelings.

She didn't know these emotions nor did she try to understand it as it stung her heart every time she tried for some reason.

"Why? Aren't you already done enough?"

Helen was pissed by her reply, Didn't she already do enough to hurt him now she was ready to push him away too?

She released immense pressure worthy of S-Rank on Alia locking her in place.

".....Want to talk to him."

Alia could not move, This pressure put on her by her mother was even more than the one that Amara did to make her kneel

However this time her heart did not allow her to kneel and give up, Her willpower was able to help her stand her ground without being pressed on the ground under the pressure.

But that is all she could do using all her power just barely not to let herself kneel in front of her mother.

Right now she felt worthless, Yet for some reason she wanted to get punishment from her mother, Not for any weird way.

Rather she thinks she deserves to be punished and hurt as to why she even dared to go past the direct order of her mother.

"And what are you going to do when you meet him? Make him hate you more?"

Helen blood boil hearing Alia, How her daughter is so clueless, did she even know what is the reason for Alex anger?

Can she even be capable of understanding it?

"He will not, I make sure."

Alia was adamant, She was heart wrenching to meet Alex, See him and tell him that she loved him.

She didn't know what love was before but she does now, And hope he give her a chance.

Which knowing him and how much he has love for her would not be a problem.

She is not taking him for granted but she really thinks love would not be this easy to be broken nor forgotten.

It's like an addiction in for her, A power that can make her do anything that she before never even thought of doing so.

Like sharing him with others or even with her own mother but now she doesn't care as long as he is with her.

That is love in her heart, The feeling though new but deeply embedded in her bones.

"HOW!!? DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT EMOTIONS Ar-"

Helen finally lashed out, All her anger, frustration, and all other emotions came out on Alia, her eldest daughter.

In fury, she didn't think what she was speaking but just as these words left her mouth she immediately regretted it.

This was a low blow even for her, After all, is didn't choose to be an emotionless machine, Her superpower made her that way.

She herself who is suffering from her own special physique should have known what her daughter was going through and yet she said this to her.

An immense guilt birthed in her heart, She really didn't mean to say this, She really didn't mean to hurt Alia this way, These words just came out.

"....Sorry"

Helen is quite hard-headed but she knows when she is wrong and what to do in that case. Her pride was not bigger than her love for her daughter.

She doesn't show it but of course, she loves them, both of them. They are her daughters after all.

Her head bowed down in shame, She actually felt bad for saying this to her daughter.

Hence why the S-rank like her was so quick to apologise.

"Sorry for what?"

Like always Alia uttered words in her cold icy tone void of any emotions.

There was nothing in her voice, tone or word that could say her current state.

"Alia, I know I was wrong, I am sorry for i-"

When Helen heard these words, She knows these words are obviously filled with sarcasm.

But didn't this too much? She admit she was wrong by doing so, She should have not said it but it happened in the heat of passion.

At least as her mother, She gets a chance to make her position clear right?

This is what Helen thought and wanted to argue with Alia but when she raise her head to look at her, She was stunned.

"You…You genuinely don't understand why I was sorry, don't you?"

Helen asked Alia with her slightly choking voice which she did her best to hide it out.

She has seen it. When she looked into the eyes of her daughter there was actual curiosity and confusion as to why she was apologising for.

This broke her heart, For the first time even being a woman she wanted to cry out like a normal person.

The guilt of this eating her heart out as she just asked Alia with the false hope that what Alia said was indeed sarcasm.

After all, if not then she is indeed a terrible mother.

"Yes, Why would you apologise to me? What you said is true, I don't know what emotions are nor do I mostly feel them, so what's wrong with stating the obvious?"

Alia asked Helen in a confused tone really not understanding why would this thing would ask for an apology.

She indeed can't feel emotions and so she didn't know what they are and how to react to them. It was only until recently that she started to feel them again.

Still, unless it was about Alex, Those emotions were as good as not being there as how low their sense of presence is.

So her logical way of thinking did not change. For her it was not a thing to apologise for just saying the truth.

"Yo-...I am sorry."

Hearing such words coming out of her daughter's mouth nearly broke her heart.

How did she not see it? Her daughter didn't know the basics of being a woman.

No, She saw it, She saw it since it started just too coward to acknowledge it.

She just searching for the ways to fix both of her daughters thinking she was doing good for them. They would thank her.

But she was selfish. It was not all because of for their good that she spent time outside rather it was a lie she told herself to hide the truth.

The truth, Which is that she is the worst mother to her daughters, they needed a parent but unfortunately, they got her, A coward.

"Wha-what you doing?"

Panicked words of Alia rang in the ward as she saw Helen stand from her bed and appear in front of her, Before she could react, She felt her words go dark as her face plunged into the softness while her body enveloped in the weird but not bad kinda warmth.

"I was not good before but Mommy promise you that, I would be the best mother to both of you, and I would help you get him back."

Helen just took Alia in a tight hug as she from her heart uttered these word as if these was not a statement rather a promise she making to herself.

Alia didn't know how to react, Her logical brain was thinking of all the possibilities of why her mother reacting the way she doing, She even thought this old woman had gone senile or insane cause of the dreaded news her future sister-in-law had given to them.

It's just a weird thing that before she would have struggled to get out as she doesn't like to be touched not to mention hugged like this, It used to repulse her.

But she not feeling any if it, Yes her brain telling her to break the hug but for the first time she wanted to follow through it.

This hug made her weirdly embarrassed but still unwilling to break free from it.

It's quite a conundrum, Her heart feels like it's become heavy while she has quite a strong urge to cry, Which is odd as she can count how many times she had cried on one hand finger.

All those times something big happened to her to make her shed tears, Right now there is no big thing happening, So why does she have this feeling?

She trying to search for the reason but become panicked when she finds out there seems to be no reason why she had this urge.

For her who always needs to be in control this was a nightmare losing control over body like this but yet she still didn't want to leave the hug.

And so mother and daughter just stand there in a tight hug without saying anything letting silence convey the message which a thousand words couldn't.
