Suzuki is Cute Even In A Savage World

Chapter 8.7: World Saviour (7)

Vol. 1 - Chapter 8.7: World Saviour (7)

"I have always thought that in order to bring peace to the world, you needed to be strong enough to bring down and annihilate the demons. And to become a splendid knight like my mother, I've been working hard every day, but..."

(Well, most people would think like that.)

Takashi thought back to Marguerite from a while ago. She was a woman, but she had the air no less than that of a strong man. It might be somewhat similar to Nephira leading the Thunder-Lance Charge.

"It was so impressive. Ms. Marguerite."

"Mother is strong. She is leading the Salvation Crusaders with strength as just one woman. She even killed a high-ranked demon the other day. I have always admired her and aspired to be like her someday.

Noelle was happy to talk about it. Takashi thought that she must really respect her mother.

"Mother is a skilled user of Tengen, which she inherited from Lord Tartanin."

"Tengen?"

"It's a holy aura... That's right. If you are truly a Hero, you may awaken tremendous power. Wanna give it a try?"

"R-Really! Then let's do it!"

Noelle put her hands together and concentrated. Her hands became enveloped in a blue mist.

(Ooh---! That's Aura!)

Noelle placed her hands directly over Takashi's head. Then all of a sudden---

"I'll murder you! I'll murder you! I'll murder all of you!"

A man's voice that sounded familiar kept replaying in his head. Takashi's head ached with pain.

"Uh, Pu---...ah, I feel nauseous..."

"A-Are you okay?"

When Noelle let go of her hand, the nausea and headache subsided.

"It seems that your body is rejecting Tengen."

According to Noelle, most people can receive Tengen itself. However, Takashi seemed to have an unusual constitution that did not allow him to receive Tengen itself.

"Even if you can receive Tengen, it is very difficult to master. Even when granted Tengen, most people cannot make use of even ten percent of its power. In fact, my mother granted me Tengen as well, but..."

Noelle slammed his trembling fist down onto the wooden table.

"Aah, how frustrating! I loathe myself for not inheriting my mother's tremendous talent!"

"C-Calm down! Noelle!"

"If only I had been born a man to begin with! I could have been much more useful to my mother!"

After complaining a lot, Takashi spoke to Noel, who looked really frustrated and depressed.

"Noelle, you really like Marguerite, don't you?"

"I don't think that 'like' is the right word. Mother is my ideal, my inspiration."

Noelle spoke with a distant look on her face.

"On the battlefield, she can appear ruthless at times. But, Mother is really kind."

"I'm kinda... jealous of you..."

"What do you mean?"

"No. Because I... I have been alone since I can remember."

Takashi was an orphan with no family. Although the foster caretakers at the orphanage were kind to him, he grew up without knowing the love of his parents.

"So you don't know what your parents look like...?"

"I don't know. They threw me away! Surely I was, a hindrance for them, right"

Takashi laughed bitterly as he scratched his cheek with his finger. Noelle shook her head sharply.

"That's not true! There must have been a deeper reason why they couldn't raise you!"

Noelle declared with a very serious expression on her face.

"No parent would treat their child as a hindrance! I absolutely think so!"

"I-I see."

Takashi thought that even though Noelle was fiery and passionate, she was a good and pure girl. He had never talked to anyone close to his own age before since coming to this world, except for Excella. Noelle was also thinking about the future of humanity, albeit in a different way from him.

Takashi was happy to see that they had developed a sense of comradeship. Suddenly, Excella leaned on Takashi's shoulder.

"Huh, Excella?"

Excella softly breathed while sleeping on Takashi's shoulder.

"She must be drunk."

Noelle smiled and pulled a nearby blanket over Excella. Takashi looked at Excella's glass. More than half of the wine was still left. What. Isn't she a lightweight?

As she laughed, Noelle said to Takashi.

"It's already late today. Take a rest. It's all right."

(Yeah. But, Nephira and the rest will be worried if I don't come home...)

"Thanks. Noelle. But, I'm leaving!"

"I see. Well then, let's work hard with each other. For the sake of humanity."

Noelle held up a glass of wine toward Takashi. Takashi hesitated to accept the glass, but---

"A token to our friendship."

"That's... right"

Takashi accepted the glass, feeling rejuvenated by Noelle's words. Noelle clinked her glass.

"For the future of mankind."

"Yeah. Cheers"

After clinking glasses, Takashi sipped wine for the first time in his life. He thought it was bitter and not tasty at all, but when he saw Noelle emptying her glass in one gulp, he decided to do the same.

(Uuh. I knew it, this is bad...)

You may have to be an adult to appreciate the taste. Takashi put down his glass and looked at the sleeping Excella.

"Excella. We should get going! Ex... cella..."

He tried to shake her awake, but he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed on top of her.

(H-Huh?)

Then, Takashi lost consciousness.
