Temporal Pearls

Chapter 104: Red Valley Town

There was a subtle change in Redop Irik's walking when all the gelatinous substance slipped off Seth's Cloak. His fist also clinched as he moved forward. The walk toward the village is nothing but a big trap for Seth, he just has to make sure he doesn't fall for it!

Seth turned his short sword to staff and he began to walk as he tapped it on the ground with every step.

______________

One of the nodes of the staff was [Make Possible Walking Toward Destination] and that means whatever hazard Seth met toward his destination, it will be reduced or even prevented.

'I set the town in the middle of Red Valley as my destination!'

Some sort of relief washed over Seth. At the same time, a shrill sound echoed that sent chills down his spine which compelled him to grip his staff well.

Redop Irik stopped and looked at Seth, and then at Seth's staff. While also Seth stared at him with no expression.

Then the man continued walking.

'Aura Sight!' There was no longer anything suspicious around anymore but Seth didn't calm down as he felt that the deeper they went the eerier it became.

'I must be on a hidden Quest. As this continent was the most dangerous, every sanctuary must be a mysterious living entity that allows weaker creatures to come within it!'

Seth's assumption wasn't farfetched but also not perfectly accurate. With the staff that mysteriously guided him toward his intended destination and Green Cloak, the walk to the centre of the Valley was smooth albeit eerie.

Vertically coiled vines stood 10 meters tall with strange blue flowers decorated on the vines that served as the wall of the town.

There was no door, but the moment the Red Eyes man came close, he used his blade to slash at the vines. They trembled and then opened a little. He then picked up the stones, which were the core of the Abhorrent monsters and he threw them at the vine.

A portion of Blue Flower became red before him and then the vines shifted creating a small tunnel which served as the door to the town. But Redop guided Seth to a vine chamber and they sat there silently. Seth didn't say a thing too, and Redop closed his eyes.

Hours later, Redop Irik stood and said,

"Follow closely. Don't speak to anyone and don't look behind you!" Redop walked forward, going out and Seth met with sunlight. They spent the night in that place.

"Okay!"

Redop walked forward and Seth followed behind, the wall thickness was four meters which made Seth understand this place had serious protection.

"We believe that our town is the safest in all of Gawee." Redop suddenly said as they were passing a normal market where people with red eyes buy and sell normal items. There were fish, chickens, clothes and even kitchen wares.

Mothers and their children wandering around, construction workers were busy building a shop, and some constructing a bridge above a waterway.

"Hey, newcomer kid. Can you help me carry this basket!" An old man said to Seth.

Seth shook his head and walked close to Redop. Seth has never met with anything like this in all the games he has played. Almost everyone he passed by as long as they glanced at him, will request something of him, and that also will activate a Quest.

They passed the market and came to the main town. It was a big town with six streets and a town centre that connected them all. The path Seth and Redop followed was called Noisy Market Street.

Redop guided Seth to a house that was close to the most luxurious mansion in the town. And he was given a room and asked to not make noise, or come out of the room.

"There are rules in this town, breaking them is a serious crime!" Redop spat before he walked out of the room and closed it from the outside. He went directly to Town Chief Luxurious Mansion to collect a Guest Permit for Seth. And that was another hurdle.

Seth stood alone in a small room that has a bed, chair and table then a cupboard. Apart from those, it was empty.

The eerie sensation he was feeling was gone when the room was closed but now that Redop was far away, he was beginning to feel uncomfortable.

'What the hell is this place?' Seth wondered. 'Aura Sight!'

The room changed but nothing seemed suspicious at first after he looked deeply at the door he saw some glowing inscriptions.

Seth then called, 'Aura Tome!' The appearance of the book made everything show up. The whole room was covered with well-arranged inscriptions in every corner and the window in particular.

The only thing that seemed normal was the furniture! Seth looked through the window and found pedestrians moving around on a normal day.

He sighed and decided to sit on the bed but he shook his head. With Exertion Trait of his, he can stay standing for very long, especially when he plants staff on the floor.

Seth then looked away from the window and stared at the door, unbeknownst to him a pair of eyes had glanced at him from the outside and he felt a chill and looked out the window but he saw nothing.

Turning off the Aura Sight and the room returned to normal. Seth sauntered around the room for hours activating his sight from time to time but nothing, but the more time passed, the more he felt something different.

When the sun was far above, the position of the shadows changed and the shadow of a tall tree in front of the house was cast inside the room.

Seth's attention was on everything and he noticed it. So seeing the tree shadow, he avoided it and even scrutinized it with Aura Sight.

While he was at that, a cloud covered the sky and obscured the sun and darkness enveloped the town.

Dub Luv!

Seth's heart skipped a beat, and a silhouette of a man appeared outside the window. Also, a light was cast on the door and he saw a shadow behind the door.

Seth somehow began to panic and then he sensed a gaze coming from under the bed. Not only there, but he also sensed there might be something from the cupboard and table drawer.

Instead of activating Aura Sight to check, Seth became preoccupied with his fear and forgot to activate it.

A shadow, not from the bed, the window or even the door but his own shadow moved. There was little lighting so Seth didn't notice it. It slithered out of the window and Seth heard a sudden crash of something heavy. He ran and peered through the window. He didn't see anyone, even the earlier silhouette was gone.

Then another crash happened outside the door, in time he saw the shadow of a man being thrown back and the light from the door was gone.

Fatter!

Fatter!

Fatter!

The sound of rain fell and drowned all other sounds. The fear he felt abetted and when the shadow slithered back under him, Seth quickly remembered that he should have used Aura Sight to see!

'What the hell happened? Did I just forget to use Aura Sight? That's impossible!' Despite the calmness of the surrounding, Seth became uneasy from the inside.

He activated Aura Sight, and he was horrified, the rain isn't rain but blood. He deactivated the sight and he saw normal water! He activated Aura Sight, that normal water became blood. Blood that behaves like water.

As he has seen the blood of Animals and Roana Prada with his Aura Sight he was hundred percent this is blood. Just a bit different.

On the ground close to the tree, where he saw a silhouette before, was a glowing red liquid being washed by the raining blood.

'Another blood, this one thicker! The silhouette I saw is a real human or something alive with blood and it was killed by someone?' Seth wondered.
