Chapter 106 - You Cannot Afford To Offend Him
Lucas looked at the table that he was supposed to go back to. There were already a few people there, and there seemed to be a slight scuffle going on. Lucas shook his head.
"All of them are stupid sheep. They just cannot use their brains. How they became legendary warriors is beyond me. Without thinking, winning a fight is supposed to be impossible, looks like they changed that." Lucas commented as he walked towards the table.
All the men on the table glared at him.
"So you are the one who dared to cuss the great Odin himself. Do you have any respect for your creator? The one who gave you the power that you use today? With which you act so arrogantly? You might be more powerful than all of us, but can you face all of us together?" a scarred man who as in front of them all said menacingly. He seemed to be the leader of the group that had come here.
"First of all, you are wrong about many things. I never got anything from Odin. Other than suffering, of course. He owes me a lot, in fact. And do not forget. Since the feast started, Odin has only spoken to me, and he left immediately. I cursed him many times, yet he did not say anything in response. Use your brains, monkeys, use them. God gave them for a reason. I am more important than any of you, and unlike the lot of you, I actually have the power to against said senile old man. None of you do." Lucas said.
"I heard that you were a Fenrir supporter. Do you really think that the stupid wolf of destruction can go against the great Odin himself? It was just a myth. Fenrir lost in mere moments against Odin. That is the undeniable fact." the scarred man laughed.
"You just killed yourselves. You should have taken this argument somewhere. Why did you have to go somewhere that was above your pay grade?" Lucas shook his head.
The man in front of him stepped back instinctively. Lucas growled as he also took a step forward. His eyes turned red, and the man froze just looking at them. Behind him, all the men started running back, afraid of what was going to happen.
"What did you just call me boy? Tell me. I swear you will not be tortured. All I will do is rip you apart in half. What did you just say?" Fenrir spoke. Lucas' body started turning. White fir started appearing all over his face and arms.
"Monster!" the man exclaimed.
"That's right. That is what I am going to be to you guys. A monster. After all, your puny minds will just not be able to see what is the truth." Lucas snarled as he jumped forward. He punched forward.
The man looked terrified, and the punch was just about to hit the man when Lucas felt that it hit something soft instead. Lucas retracted the fist as he retreated.
"Why is a Valkyrie getting in between the fights of others? Don't tell me that Valhalla is not actually the paradise of fighting that it advertises itself to be." Lucas scoffed.
Between Lucas and the scarred man stood a beautiful young woman who was wearing armor.
"You are an esteemed guest of the gods. I am obliged to inform you that the rules of Valhalla only allow fighting within the fighting ring, and rooms, as well as during war days. If you wish to kill someone or discipline him, that is the time to do so. Now is not the time, nor the place to do that." the Valkyrie said.
"Brinhlydr. It has been so long. Don't tell me you forgot me. Do you really think that you can actually stop me from killing someone? Think deeply. No one here can actually stop me if I want to go all out. That man called me a stupid wolf. He must die. So why don't you move aside, and let me take care of what was mine, to begin with? Do not interfere." Fenrir said.
"You are! Impossible. How could someone like you enter the sacred grounds once more?" the Valkyrie, clearly Brinhyldr, exclaimed with shocked eyes.
"Now move aside. That man is meant to die. He will regenerate and live again. Why do you guys have to be so strict if they are going to get reborn again?" Fenrir said.
"Rules are rules. These are the words of Odin, not me. As the head Valkyrie, it is my duty to enact them. You shall only be allowed to kill them tomorrow, which happens to be war day. Wait till then." Brinhyldr said.
The white fur and the red eyes slowly receded, and Lucas was back to his normal form.
"The war day is tomorrow? Interesting. They tomorrow, this whole lot is going to face hell. You better not stop him then. He will not stop at anything any longer, and if you value your life, you better not try to take something from him for a second time." Lucas told Brinhyldr.
"Who are you? For the great gods to allow you to have that demon within you? I thought that he was still chained on that island. I was not aware of this arrangement." the valkyrie said.
"Don't be surprised. A lot has happened within the mortal realm that you probably do not know of. Anyways, has Loki been here? If he has, I need to give him a goddamn beating. Does he dare to mess with my arrangements? This has gone too far." Lucas asked her.
"Why would the trickster god come to the domain of Odin? He has not been anywhere near here, as far as I am aware. Of course, that is what I think. I am not sure if he has come here discreetly. I am but a Valkyrie. How can I come between the gods?" Brinhyldr said.
Lucas nodded. He turned around and he was about to leave.
"You have to wait for the feast to complete. The doors cannot be opened by a mere mortal. Only a Valkyrie can open the doors." Brinhyldr called out.
"Do you think that anything in this place can actually stop me? I have the strongest god inside of me. I have his powers. Nothing can possibly hinder me here." Lucas chuckled as he walked towards the huge door that was closed.
He stopped in front of the door and held the handles. He pulled on them. His muscles bulged, but that was the end of it all. The door creaked, and it swung open, letting Lucas go through the slight gap that was created. After Lucas left, the door closed again.
The hall, which was supposed to be noisy, was completely silent, and everyone looked at the Valkyrie, who was also shocked at what she had just seen.
"How is someone like that giving a human his powers? He allows that human to use his powers at will? How long did this arrangement take place even?" Brinhyldr muttered. She looked at the scarred man with a cold face.
"Why do you idiots have to be so stupid? You went and offended one of the most terrifying people in the world. Do you not know that you should never underestimate someone that you cannot see through?" she said angrily.
"But he cursed Odin! What was I supposed to do?" the man complained like he was talking to his mother.
"Suck it up. What can you do when a grandchild has a spat with his grandfather? Don't tell me that you go into family feuds regularly. This is the most terrifying feud in all of history. Why do you have to butt in now?" she berated him as she turned around and left. Within moments, she disappeared from where she stood, and all that remained in the hall was silence, and the warriors looking at each other.
After a while, someone broke the silence.
"Ragnar. You are the only person that knows him. He spoke to you a lot. Who is that man, really?" the scarred man asked.
Ragnar sighed. "He is one of the most terrifying people that I have ever met. He was just wandering when I first met him, but he crushed me the moment that he saw that I was a fighter. All that I know about him is that his name is Lucas and that there is a monster inside of him." Ragnar said with sweat forming on his eyebrows.
"Monster? What do you mean?" a man asked.
"It means that he has a terrifying existence inside of him that no one can afford to offend." Bjorn intervened. He gave a glance towards Ragnar as if telling him that he has revealed too much.
"Don't tell me. Does he have Fenrir within him?"
