Chapter 255: Sister
Chapter 255: Sister
Lu Xingyan's words were like magic that stopped her sister's tears from flowing when she realized that they did skip classes for the first time.
A soft giggle was heard coming from the older twin. "Yeah, you're right... Guess we can't go back now..." She mumbled.
"Then that only means one thing," said Lu Xingyan, wiping her sister's wet cheeks dry.
Lu Weichun blinked at her a few times in confusion and asked, "What?"
She raised a brow and smirked, "You're really asking me what? We can't just go back to our apartment and waste this day. We're going to have some fun. For now, let's go buy some clothes. We can't walk around in our uniforms or else we'll be caught." She looked at the manly uniform she was wearing and shook her head. "I need to change into something comfortable."
"So... we're going shopping?"
"Silly girl, of course, we are!" Lu Xingyan wanted to distract her sister from what happened earlier that was why she was willing to do activities that require energy.
...
And there they were, a wide variety of shops lined inside the mall: antique and art stalls, jewelry and accessory shops, luxury boutiques, souvenir kiosks, and stores selling leather goods.
Lu Xingyan knew how much her sister loved shopping. She loved the perfumed, air-conditioned mall. She basked in the attention of the sales staff and pawed over different fabrics and textures. She would try on new boots and hats, get a free make-over and then head to the spa for a manicure. The garments she brought home would often never be worn or maybe worn once. She was a shop-a-holic. It was a compulsion for her.
They tried on so many different clothes and bought the clothes they liked. They didn't have to worry about the money. They had the infamous black card that their brother gave them during their last birthday.
Lu Xingyan was the one in charge of keeping it since if it was her sister who held it, she was sure that their small apartment would surely be filled with countless of useless things. She was their accountant but on this day, she was willing to use the card for her sister's sake.
Just as expected, Lu Weichun forgot about what happened earlier and she was on a complete cloud nine while holding the black card in her hand.
While Lu Weichun was busy looking at the bags, Lu Xingyan's phone began ringing. When she checked, it was a call coming from their brother.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Shouldn't you be at school?" Her brother, Lu Mello asked through the other line.
"..." Ah shit. She didn't think that her brother would be receiving notification of their spending. Well, he was the one who gave them that card so it was only normal, right?
"Gege, just let this go once." Lu Xingyan pleaded, whispering. "Jiejie broke up with her boyfriend so... This is the best way to help her."
"So they broke up huh? That's good, that's good." Lu Mello seemed pleased after hearing her. "Why did they broke up tho?"
Lu Xingyan was a bit hesitant about whether or not should she tell him about the truth. She didn't want to trouble her sister by having their brother come just so they could send Fan Jingli to hell.
Their brother was like a sleeping dragon, if awakened, anyone who received his wrath was bound to have a nasty end.
"I was able to convince Jiejie that we should focus on our study first." She replied with a lie, her nose twitched because of the lie. Luckily, Lu Mello wasn't there to see it since she sounded convincing enough.
"Finally. Take care of her, okay?"
"Of course, gege."
After the call ended, she kept her phone and turned to her sister who was talking with a saleswoman.
Lu Xingyan only bought a few things, she had to help her in carrying the paper bags after all.
Finally, after going here and there, Lu Xingyan was glad that she was able to rest her aching feet when they went to a cafe. Her feet were killing her and she couldn't understand how her sister managed to look so bright and lively still. Unlike her sister, Lu Xingyan's face was pale, she was exhausted and she looked like her spirit was going to leave her body anytime soon.
When Lu Weichun saw how tired her sister was, she giggled, "You were the one who suggested so don't complain."
"I know..." She replied with a small groan.
"Should we go and play in the Arcade center next?" Her sister suggested.
Lu Xingyan looked at her sister in disbelief. Just where the hell did all that energy come from?
Lu Weichun ended up laughing lightly when she saw her little sister's reaction. "I'm just kidding." She reached out and held her hand. "Thank you, Meimei." She was truly feeling a lot better. She was grateful that her sister was able to come up with something that could distract her from crying the whole day. "From now on, I will listen only to you." She added.
Lu Xingyan chuckled, holding back her sister's hand, "No, you won't. The sister I know doesn't listen to anyone."
She pouted and retorted, "I do... sometimes."
The younger twin sneered at what she said. "Yeah, sometimes." She picked up the fork and stabbed the sliced strawberry that was on the cake that belonged to her sister. Instead of eating it, she reached out just so she could feed it to her sister.
Her sister was the person she loved and hated at the same time. She was her best friend. If she got a black cat Lu Weichun would run out and buy one blacker. They both had countless of arguments and yet, they also get along the best. Her sister was always the vibrant one, the one who outshone her. In any room she was in she would be the brightest light, the one everyone turned to admire. If she had to be honest, she also admired her sister like others.
People may say that Lu Xingyan resembled their mother more but in the girl's eyes, it was her beloved sister who was more like their mother.
