The Diary of a Female Zombie’s Hiking Adventure

Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Yu Qingxian's words had just fallen when Shi Xingyu walked in and sat down on a chair.

So zombies could sit after all.

She had thought zombies' joints were like rusted iron, unable to bend to allow motions like sitting or squatting. But thinking about it, if zombies really couldn't move their limbs, how would they be able to walk or run, or even tear off people's arms and legs?

It was proof that their hands and feet and strength must have been enhanced. After all, ordinary people didn't have the ability to tear humans apart raw.

But Yu Qingxian did not believe a level two zombie, and one with a brain at that, wouldn't someday take a bite out of her.

Yu Qingxian put on a pair of fluffy long socks and slipped on snow boots. Fortunately there were many prepared outfits in this clothing store.

After Yu Qingxian finished dressing, she looked again at Shi Xingyu. It still sat in the same spot, its eyes fixed on her the whole time.

This made Yu Qingxian a little helpless.

Shi Xingyu still wore that thin school uniform. But the blood stains on it didn't seem to have increased.

That meant Shi Xingyu hadn't eaten anyone during this time.

Sure enough, it thought eating her would make it level up faster!

Damn it!

She hadn't been eyed by humans, but had been eyed by a zombie first!

No, wait.

She had already been eyed by humans.

That girl with the baseball bat!

How difficult it was to live as a person, and to wander around as a zombie was so hard too!

Was there no justice left in the world?

Things had come to this, she might as well dig a hole and lay in it.

Forget about traveling too.

Yu Qingxian was this kind of pessimistic person to begin with.

She had originally thought that becoming a zombie would take away the pain.

No need to struggle to live.

But who knew she would still have consciousness.

The courage she had barely drumed up suddenly drained away completely.

Ah, she so wanted to die!

Yu Qingxian's pessimistic thoughts surged into her mind in an instant.

But sighing, Yu Qingxian cheered herself up again.

Although she thought about dying, since these were things she wanted to do, she had to finish them before she could die.

As for why Yu Qingxian let herself be scratched by a zombie and become one,

it was because it was the apocalypse, she didn't need to update her novel anymore, and with her social anxiety, she basically had no way to survive the apocalypse.

To survive the apocalypse, she would have to cooperate with other people.

"Can you even talk?" Yu Qingxian was afraid someone might come looking for supplies in this small town, so they couldn't stay here.

But with Shi Xingyu's appearance, anyone could see it was a zombie with one glance.

With no other choice, Yu Qingxian could only disguise Shi Xingyu.

She put a down jacket on it, a mask, hat, and sunglasses.

Only then did she say, "This town is too close to the base. We have to go. You do have the ability to protect yourself, but I don't."

After speaking, Yu Qingxian headed out dragging her suitcase.

With all this heavy snow, the suitcase was useless!

It was like even the heavens opposed her.

She had only ridden for three minutes.

Shi Xingyu was obedient. Although it didn't speak, it docilely followed Yu Qingxian.

But it was after all a proper zombie, and wearing the long down coat made it a little clumsy.

It would trip every few steps.

But Yu Qingxian didn't care and kept walking forward.

The snow was already up to Yu Qingxian's calves, and showed no signs of stopping.

Going further would become difficult.

But after half an hour, Shi Xingyu's speed picked up.

After all, its legs were longer.

Watching Shi Xingxian gradually move ahead of her, Yu Qingxian suddenly stopped.

She turned and looked around, then went into a shop and found a rope. She tied it to her suitcase, then looped it around Shi Xingyu's waist and tied the other end to its waist too.

"It's fine," Yu Qingxian said, feeling Shi Xingyu struggling, telling it to be still.

After she finished tying, she sat on top of the suitcase and said, "Let's go, out of town first. I'll point you which way."

Shi Xingyu was obedient, like a big white dog pulling a sled through the snow.

It went in the direction Yu Qingxian pointed.

As a zombie, its physical strength already exceeded a human's.

Dragging a less than 10 kilogram suitcase and a 90 kilogram Yu Qingxian didn't impact its stride at all.

It was much faster than if Yu Qingxian walked herself.

But Yu Qingxian wondered, sitting on a suitcase being pulled around everywhere by a zombie, could this still be called backpacking?

In any case, with this ox Shi Xingyu joining her, Yu Qingxian's progress increased dramatically.

In just half a day sitting on the suitcase, Yu Qingxian saw that scenically gorgeous lake.

Although it wasn't a mountainside of red autumn leaves, it was still a completely different scene.

The world was only one color, white.

The water's surface was frozen over, both banks snowy white.

Even the highway in the middle was buried under snow.

But fortunately the row of tall lampposts along the highway let Yu Qingxian know what was road and what was lake.

A zombie unwilling to speak and a socially anxious zombie, in this world appeared exceptionally quiet.

When the two zombies stepped onto the highway stretching across the lake, the sky scattered down large swaths of snow swirling in the wind.

Yu Qingxian opened her umbrella she had been using to block the sun, shielding herself from the snow falling on her.

As for Shi Xingyu, Yu Qingxian couldn't be bothered to care.

It was just a mute zombie.

And Shi Xingyu also seemed to not mind the accumulating snow atop its head, striding straight ahead.

Yu Qingxian suddenly said, "Stop for a bit."

Shi Xingyu stopped immediately, like a robot.

Yu Qingxian took out her camera while thinking about Shi Xingyu.

She definitely wouldn't allow it to go eat people.

But without eating flesh and blood, how long could a zombie live?

Yu Qingxian didn't know. Although she had read novels, some lived three months, some six months, and some one, three, even ten years.

Shi Xingyu just stood there watching Yu Qingxian take pictures here and there.

Then Yu Qingxian turned to face Shi Xingyu.

She reached out and ripped off its cumbersome facial coverings.

Although its skin wasn't living, you could tell it had been very good looking in life.

Speaking of which, when she was in high school she would shrink into her seat.

From childhood to adulthood, she had only gotten to know the students in the seats in front of and behind her, six at most.

When she started college, she didn't live on campus, so she didn't have any friends.

And Yu Qingxian felt she didn't need any friends.

She still felt this way now.

So she could stay holed up at home for three years, and could choose death on a whim.

She could also, after becoming a zombie, travel around without any ties.

But what about Shi Xingyu?

What kind of person had it been before death?

Yu Qingxian had never thought about getting to know anyone.

She didn't want anyone to get to know her either.

But this zombie following her made Yu Qingxian a little confused.

She didn't have anything special about herself, so why would a level two zombie follow her?

Among the zombie horde, it was actually one of the more powerful zombies, right?

At least it could have been a domineering leader.

Yu Qingxian snapped a few more pictures of it.

If zombies really went extinct in the future, the photos she took would probably become textbook examples.

It was a pity Shi Xingyu just stared blankly at her, not knowing to smile.

Well, she couldn't have such high expectations of a zombie.

Putting away the camera, Yu Qingxian sat back on the suitcase.

"Let's go."
