Chapter 625: BETTER AT CHASING PEOPLE
Thomas and Nicol acted like they were going on an educational trip. Casey pretended he was going on vacation. And the duke just acted like he was going to one of the Grimaldi manors to tend to the garden.
Of course, their destination wasn't merely a decoy. To maintain the illusion and avoid suspicion, the four Grimaldis would actually travel to their intended location. Upon arrival, one of the captains would be waiting in a vehicle to take them to the spaceport, where Wulfric's spaceship was waiting. All they had to do was get in the car.
While that was happening, Astrid and Reas were also not idle.
Astrid had prepared enough ingredients to last throughout their journey to Delryria. From fresh vegetables to various meats and a selection of condiments, he had brought everything he would need to prepare a good meal.
Reas, on the other hand, was preoccupied with a different concern. He needed to explain to his boyfriend why, just a week after they started dating, he had to leave instead of spending time together, especially since his boyfriend had a free schedule.
"I'm sorry if I can't spend time with you tomorrow," Reas apologized sincerely.
"It's fine. Since it's a family emergency, it couldn't be helped," Lauren said, attempting to hide his disappointment.
In truth, he felt a bit let down. After all, it was their first week anniversary, and he naturally wanted to spend it with his boyfriend. However, he didn't want to appear childish by showing his true feelings.
"But this family emergency, is it really nothing serious?" he asked, feeling a bit worried.
"Well, it's not a life or death situation, so I guess not?"
Lauren looked at his boyfriend, wondering if he was being serious or not. At the end, he could only sigh. "Take care, okay? Call me when you arrive at Delryria."
"Does that mean I can only call you when I'm at Delryria? What if I want to hear your voice every day and every night?" .net
Lauren blushed. "Call me then. Ahem. I might answer your call if I'm not busy."
A soft smile spread across Reas' lips as he watched Lauren's adorable antics.
Unbeknownst to the two lovebirds, Wulfric was watching the whole thing at a distance. Of course, he didn't see who Reas was talking to. But the sappy expression on his face made him curious.
They were still in Aster's apartment. Just waiting for the two siblings to finish packing, and then they would make their way to his suite, where they could access the rooftop. So, because of the small area of Aster's apartment, Wulfric could hear and see everything, even if he didn't want to.
In the end, he couldn't resist leaning in and whispering to Aster, "Why does your brother look like a lovesick puppy?"
Aster raised a brow and then glanced at Reas before whispering back. "Maybe because he is."
"A lovesick puppy?" he asked in confusion.
Aster chuckled. "He's talking to his boyfriend."
Wulfric's jaw almost dropped when he heard that. "...What?"
Aster laughed, seeing his reaction. "Let's go, I'm done packing."
As they left the house and went to the top floor, Wulfric couldn't help but glanced at Reas.
Did this brat have better skills in chasing people than him?
Somehow, Wulfric felt defeated, even though there was no competition to begin with.
----------
After leaving the apartment building, they headed straight to the spaceport. According to Wulfric, this spaceport was exclusively used by his army, though few knew this. Publicly, it was a private spaceport owned by a wealthy businessman. So, Wulfric's army could use this spaceport whenever they had to go in and out of the capital secretly.
Unlike the usual spaceports with vast open areas, this one was distinctly private and heavily secured. High walls surrounded the perimeter, and the entrance was guarded by personnel in plain uniforms, blending in as private security. The main gate, made of reinforced steel, required a special access code for entry.
Inside, the layout was compact and efficient, with sleek, modern buildings and well-maintained landing pads. The entire facility was designed to be discreet, with minimal signage and no public access points, ensuring that ordinary people couldn't easily enter or even know of its existence. The atmosphere was quiet and controlled, a stark contrast to the bustling activity of typical spaceports.
When Wulfric parked the car inside, he saw that three cars were already parked there. This meant that his three captains had already done their job.
"The Grimaldis are probably on the spaceship by now. Let's hurry so we can depart quickly," he said to the two brothers.
Astrid looked at the only spaceship docked there. It was not as large as the typical transport spaceship; instead, it was about the same length as a private jet, but noticeably wider and bulkier. Reinforced plating complemented its sleek, streamlined design, giving it a sturdy and formidable appearance.
The compact size suggested it was built for speed and maneuverability rather than carrying large numbers of passengers. The entrance ramp extended from the side, inviting them aboard.
Wulfric was the first to board the spaceship, with Astrid and Reas quickly following behind.
Walking inside, Astrid noticed the ship's refined interior. It was stylish and modern, with comfortable seating and advanced control panels illuminated by soft ambient lighting. The layout was both practical and elegant, featuring metallic details and interactive screens.
A childish voice calling his name cut his observation short.
"Brother Aster!"
He turned his gaze to the front and saw Nicol rushing toward him, clearly intent on giving him a hug. Before the boy could get close, Wulfric grabbed his back collar, stopping him in his tracks.
"Don't go charging at people like a cannonball, kid," Wulfric warned. "What if you hurt Aster?"
But instead of being scared, Nicol just glared at him. "Let go of me, you big bad wolf!"
Astrid tried to suppress his laughter as he watched the scene unfold, but Reas couldn't hold back and let out a snort.
