The Simple Life of Killing Demons

Book 12: Chapter 92

Book 12: Chapter 92

Although the brothers, Mahler and Gobi, were being pushed back by the demon general, they did not give up. Standing together, they fought against the demon general.

Other imperial guards who wanted to offer support were all refused by them.

"This guy is ours!" The two brothers exclaimed in unison.

Only facing a strong opponent would they elevate their skills! The brothers understood that very well. If they could defeat the demon general there, it would greatly help them become stronger. Moreover, they were gradually grasping the rhythm of dealing with the fire-type demon general. They turned from being passive to taking an active stance, starting to confront it head-on.

With that progress, the spirit soldiers would eventually win. However, at that moment, a group of demonic dragons flew in from the sky.

"Dragons! Dragons are coming!" A soldier exclaimed.

"It's really the dragons!"

"Whoosh~~ pff!!!" As the group of demonic dragons appeared, they swooped down, launching attacks on the soldiers on the ground.

With the intervention of the demonic dragons, the battle situation suddenly changed, and the spirit soldiers were at a disadvantage.

"Close combat soldiers continue to fight these demonic monsters! Magic artillerymen, focus your attacks on the demonic dragons in the sky!"

Despite the moment causing confusion among the soldiers, the commander quickly adjusted the battle plan.

However, it was not easy to hit the dragons flying in the sky. The magical attacks from the  spirits were effective against the previous demonic insects and demon soldiers, but when facing the dragons, their effectiveness was greatly reduced.

"Dragons…" The Spirit King gazed at the circling demonic dragons in the sky, then sneered, "Even if they're dragons, there's no need to fear." He picked up a spear from a nearby guard, a mundane-looking spear with faint electric currents flashing on it.

"Zzt, zzt, zzt." As the electric current on the spear increased, it became like a huge spotlight, covering the area with a golden glow.

"Humph…" The Spirit King raised the spear. Although he was in armor, it was apparent that his strong arm was extending slightly to the back. The veins on his forehead bulged as he took aim at a demonic dragon. With a loud grunt, he hurled the spear.

"Boom!"

The spear flew like a dragon. The sky echoed the sound of an explosion. A spear charged with high-voltage electricity had pierced through the body of that demonic dragon.

"Crackle, crackle!" The pierced demonic dragons turned into a conductor, its body emitting lightning that spread like chains to its surrounding comrades.

Instantly, three demonic dragons fell to the ground, charred all over, motionless.

"Oh! Did you see that? That's the King's attack!"

"It's like a strike from a deity." The soldiers, seeing the Spirit King's attack, were all invigorated. They believed that with the King around, the dragons were no issue.

"King, are you okay?" Philip looked at the Spirit King, who had turned a bit pale.

"Phew!" The Spirit King exhaled. "It's been too long since I’ve exercised, my body has deteriorated. I'm not as good as these young warriors."

"No, King, being able to instantly kill three evil dragons with one move, your technique is unmatched in the Spirit Kingdom. Besides, your body can't handle releasing too much power. Please be careful."

"Yeah, yeah." The Spirit King looked up again at the sky; there were still over ten dragons left.

Despite his powerful move earlier, the more powerful the technique, the more it drained him. Moreover, the current Spirit King was not the same as before, his body could not release too much magic.

Yet even with his body deteriorating, the Spirit King did not hesitate to launch another attack. Taking the spear passed to him by a guard, he once again initiated an attack.

A dark-flamed dragon targeted the Spirit King positioned at the center of the army and flew towards him.

"A mere dragon dares to disrespect the King? Take a look at this!" The third-ranking spirit in Spirit Kingdom and administrative chief, Robin, used magic to attack the fire dragon. The tiny flames hitting the fire dragon were as insignificant as mosquito bites, not causing any pain.

"Oh mama!" Robin jumped down as the fire dragon flew past, its claws snatched the horse he was riding, crushing it with a single grip, leaving Robin pale with fright.

"Well done, Robin." The Spirit King took the spear again, and lightning struck the fire dragon. The fire dragon immediately turned into a conductor, sparks flying all over. As there were no other dragons around, it was the only one that fell to the ground.

"Haha! Diverting the enemy's attention for the King is something I must do." Robin, who had just been scared and cried for his mother, now looked fearless, as if his earlier fear was just an act.

"Hm… cough, cough! Cough!" Out of the blue, the Spirit King began coughing.

"King… Are you alright? Please stop." Philip looked at the Spirit King with concern.

"I'm fine." Wiping away the blood from his mouth, the Spirit King sighed, "This is probably my punishment from the Dragon God for snatching the throne from my elder brother."

"No, King, everyone knows your brother's character, and your father, the former Spirit King Welbur, also wished for you to inherit the throne. You didn't snatch anyone's throne. It's rightfully yours."

"Yeah, that's right. I also promised my father to protect this country. So, Philip, you can't stop me."

In that manner, the Spirit King continued to throw several lightning spears, killing several more dragons. Eventually, he became exhausted from expending magical energy.

His complexion became even paler.

"My King, you mustn't continue." Philip held down the Spirit King's hand holding the spear.

"Ah–oh!" However, the dragon horde had also noticed the presence of the Spirit King and was heading their way. To them, the Spirit King was the biggest threat.

"But, Philip, the situation doesn't allow for it." The Spirit King managed to show a faint smile.

"No! King, absolutely not! Your body won't be able to hold up!" Philip firmly pressed down on the Spirit King's hand.

The Spirit King withdrew his smile and said sternly, "Philip, let go. This is an order."

"Uh…" Philip took a deep breath and released the Spirit King's hand. "It's a pity, King. I can't use magic. Otherwise, I'd fight alongside you to our heart’s contentnt."

"Heh, I was looking forward to that too, but for now, let's deal with what's in front of us… cough, cough! Pff! Cough!" Suddenly, the Spirit King coughed violently, covering his mouth as blood seeped through his fingers.

"King!"

"Ah–Oh!" At that moment when the Spirit King felt unwell, the demonic dragons swooped down from the sky.
