Chapter 163: Chapter 163: System Upgrade (2)
*The increase in cultivation proficiency for the Celestial Planetarium has now increased to 2.8x after this system upgrade.*
*Additionally, the Host will find some changes within his Laboratory.*
With excitement Kain went to the Laboratory as directed. Compared to other areas of the System, the Laboratory is the one he feels has the most untapped potential.
The second he entered, he immediately spotted a new addition, a white futuristic-looking robot that looked vaguely familiar, within its hand was a bronze coloured ticket.
"And this is...?"
*Every researcher needs a laboratory assistant. It's form is completely up to you and can take the shape of anything that you wish. It's current form was extracted from a cartoon in your memories…Wall-E, was it?*
'Ah! Now I remember where I've seen it!' Kain looked at the robot that greatly resembled the white robot in the kids movie he loved. 'Now that I think about it, that robot in the movie also has the same name as my second contract…'
"So what can this assistant do?"
*Your lab assistant will be responsible for compiling all research ideas and results that you have made. Additionally, it can help you to analyze the probability of a certain evolution succeeding before using GP to run a simulation. However, to determine the probability it would need a lot of accurate data to begin with, therefore its predictions may not be so accurate at the start.*
"Well something is better than nothing. Especially considering that you don't refund me for failed evolutions. What's the orange thing its holding?"
*That is a one-time exchange voucher at the Lab Equipment Store. The Host can exchange one piece of Bronze equipment with the current voucher.*
"Bronze? What level is that? Low or High?"
*Bronze is currently the lowest level of lab equipment.*
Kain was a little disappointed that it was at the lowest level, but maybe the Bronze lab equipment was very powerful?
"What level would the Simulator be considered?"
*The Simulator is considered to be Silver level lab equipment*
'So it'll be worse than the Simulator…but that doesn't mean it'll be bad!' Kain chose to maintain an optimistic outlook.
*Additionally, Host you will find that there is a new feature available in the Simulator.*
Heart-racing Kain immediately ran to the screen of the Simulator. This piece of lab equipment was how he planned to spread his name in the future as a legendary Evolutionary Planner.
*Now if special conditions such as skill proficiency or a specific environment are needed for the evolution to succeed, these special requirements will be automatically applied to the simulated spiritual creature and a pop-up will explain the necessary special condition.*
Kain selected one of the spiritual creatures that he'd seen during the beast-tide that he knew had a special requirement for its skill proficiency—the silver-quality Scarlet Emberfox. It has the diluted blood of the Legendary Nine-Tailed Fox and to into a platinum-quality Three-Tailed Emberfox it must learn and master the Inferno Mirage skill.
After making the selection a small red exclamation mark appeared at the corner of the screen. After clicking it, it outlined the skill and proficiency requirements as the System said it would.
This function will greatly reduce the time and challenges Kain will face with finding new evolutionary forms. Now all he has to focus on is finding suitable materials, other evolutionary conditions will be automatically shown to him.
Kain pulled up the Lumifin profile and the exclamation point did not appear again.
'At least that confirms that a specific skill or skill proficiency isn't needed in order to successfully evolve.'
Kain then substituted the simulated creature to be a Vespirae Queen and the exclamation mark reappeared.
'Despite being relatively common as a contract among those that wish to make a living producing spiritual honey, only one Vespirae Queen has been observed in the empire's history, and it was centuries ago. Now I guess I'll find out why…' Kain looked at the pop-up description.
*Vespirae Queens must realize a skill that applies an attribute to their royal jelly. The attribute of the skill and the skills level will be the basis for the form and quality of the evolved form.*
Beneath that description there was a drop down menu so that Kain could select among skill attributes such as fire, poison, and more. And next to it was another drop down menu to select its skill level.
The skill that Queen realized, the Essence of Life was a SS life-attribute skill that applied to Queen's royal jelly. It more than exceeded the conditions of evolution. In fact, an SS skill as the basis of a spiritual creature's evolution was more than most people could hope for.
Just realizing a skill that applies an attribute to the royal jelly is an extremely difficult condition to meet, if it wasn't for Queen's unique circumstances of being a host for Eve, Kain would really have no idea about how to go about obtaining such a skill.
The royal jelly and honey automatically taken up some of the effects and characteristics of the plants used to produce the honey, but a skill that ensures that all the royal jelly produced will have a certain effect or attribute regardless of the plants used was unheard of to Kain.
'Once I'm done exploring all of the new features of this update, I'll have to do some simulations with Eve. It doesn't mention anything about a required skill proficiency, but just for good measure I should have Queen train the Essence of Life skill in the training arena.'
'Now I guess it's time to finally add to this barren looking space' Kain thought while looking at the mostly empty Laboratory, the exchange voucher and the Wheel of Fortune ticket he'd exchanged right before the update.
Kain decided to use the Wheel of Fortune ticket first. That way there was no risk of using the voucher to exchange for a piece of equipment and then winning that same equipment on the Wheel of Fortune.
Kain selected the Wheel of Fortune ticket for lab equipment in his inventory and what appeared before him was a circular wheel divided into 24 sections. The most amount of sections, 20 of them, were bronze in colour. 4 of them were silver.
But looking closely, Kain was able to see a 25th "section" that at first glance just like any of the other lines separating each section. However, when looking closely this "line" was a dark gold rather than black like the other lines.
'Is it even possible to win a Gold level equipment when the section is so small?!' He thought angrily while glaring at the golden line only slightly thicker than a strand of hair.
