Chapter 275 Underwater [5]
The next second, it wasn't just Kazuki's head that was peeking above the pool of acid water... but also the tip of his spear.
Preparing himself, Kazuki waited until there was a pause where the pool of acid water was relatively clear of any djinns.
Then, he propelled himself upward and instantly emerged from the pool of acid water.
His entire head, followed by the rest of his head, emerged from below the pool of acid water.
But it didn't stop there as Kazuki flew upwards, until his head touched the roof of the underground space.
Feeling himself start to decent, Kazuki immediately flipped around his spear before stabbing into the nearest ice pillar that Alya created.
With one hand on his spear that was attached to Alya's ice pillar, Kazuki simply hang in the hair.
Zach, who was too focused on paralyzing djinns with his battle axe, didn't even notice anything was wrong.
The same could be said for Liam, who was too focused on fending off the horde of the djinns fighting him.
The spell casters of the group were also oblivious to the whole situation as their sight of the acid water was blocked by the physical attackers.
However, Kevin, who had time to relax and look around as he retreated, noticed the strange phenomenon.
At first, when he noticed the head simply floating above the pool of acid, Kevin just dismissed it as a decapitated head.
However, as he kept attacking and dodging, he realized that the head actually looked somewhat familiar.
"...that hair...what? No...it can't be."
Taking a risk, Kevin went further out than usual to attack the djinns, trying to get a better look at the floating head.
However, the wall of fire Irene made in front of him made it hard to see anything.
Retreating with his failed attempt to see the skull better, Kevin glanced behind him at Ruby and Irene.
At that moment, Irene's wand was beginning to flicker, so Ruby quickly stepped forward, ready to take her place.
Realizing that the wall of fire would fall for a second as Ruby took over, burning the djinns while Irene recuperated mana, Kevin suddenly smiled.
He would finally get a better look at the floating head!
As the wall of flames began to flicker and descended to the ground, Kevin took a moment to preemptively step forward.
Once again, going further out than usual, Kevin glanced at the head...but it was no longer a head.
Slowly but surely, the head was moving upwards, and below the floating head, a shoulder could be seen peaking out of a pool of acid water.

It was physically impossible for an entire body to be stored below the pool of water, so Kevin stood there in shock.
"KEVIN, GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!"
Regaining his composure while listening to Liam's screen, Kevin plunged his sword one last time before retreating back to his position.
Instead of there being a wall of flames, there was now a massive river of lava in the ground.
The lava was just high enough so that djinns couldn't jump over; however, some djinns still attempted.
As they attempted their jump over the river of lava, the bottom of their foot would touch of the lava.
Halting their jump mid-air out of pain, the djinn falls into the river of lava, being consumed by the fiery depths.
Forgetting the head and pushing out of his head, Kevin resumed his normal attack pattern.
On the other side, Liam deflected one sword slash before ducking to avoid another.
Not wasting a second, Liam immediately counterattacks, stabbing his light-blue sword right into the chest of another djinn.
Then, Liam suddenly swung his sword left and right with the body of the previous djinn still on the sword.
One djinn, propelled to the left by Liam's swing, was immediately met by Zach's gigantic battle axe.
And the other simply slammed right into the cave wall.
However, instead of getting back up and rejoining the swarm of djinns trying to get past the main cast, the djinn simply stopped.
Slowly, it gazes more and more up until it finally reaches the top of the obsidian door.
Alternating glances between the heavily protected bottom portion of the obsidian door and the completely unprotected top portion, the djinn smiled.
Raising his claws, the djinn pointed towards the unprotected top portion of the door before screaming.
"UP! UP! UP! UP! UP AND IN!"
Some of the djinns, either ignoring the djinn's scream or not hearing it due to the fight, continued swarming ahead.
However, the djinns at the black slowly shifted their gaze upwards, following the finger of the screaming djinn.
Seeing this, the screaming djinn turned around before beginning to scale the cave wall.
Following his lead, countless other djinns began leaving the swarm and instead heading to the walls.
Eventually, they were around ten djinns all rapidly scaling the walls of the underground space.
The front-line physical attacks, to focus on the swarm of djinns attacking them, remained oblivious.
However, Irene, who was currently on rest to regain mana while Ruby manifested the river of lava, noticed after a couple of seconds.
Not wasting a moment, Irene suddenly yelled.
"LILY, THEY'RE GOING UP. THEY'RE TRYING TO BREAK THROUGH THE TOP OF THE DOOR!"
The screaming djinn, reaching the ceiling of the underground space, immediately jumped onto the obsidian wall.
Embedding its longer fingernails into the original wall, the djinn hung for a second before using one of its hands to pull out a sword.
Seeing this, Lily halted her spell-casting for a second and stared at the djinn.
Without a moment of hesitation, the djinn grabbed a small device that had a red switch on top of it before slowly placing the device nearer and nearer to the obsidian door.
At that same time, the djinns, no longer impeded by Lily's pool of acid, started increasing their pace as more of them swarmed Zach.
Lily, desperately thinking of a plan, opened her mouth; before she could speak, a sudden noise interrupted her.
*BANG*
The corpse of the djinn, who was just attached the obisian door, was now lifelessly laying on the ground.
