Chapter 265: Old Childhood Friend
Hey everyone! I’m Michael, the new editor. Hope you all enjoy this chapter :3
Tao Zhiwei was in no mood to work whenever he remembered his sister would get angry at him again because of a cat. He apologized to the CEO of the other company, who travelled from somewhere far away just to have this meeting, “President Wang, sorry, I need to take care of a private matter.”
President Wang laughed and showed his understanding. He had listened to the phone call just now and knew basically what happened. He said, “My wife and daughter both like cats, and we keep four cats at home. Now, I even enjoy being with cats. I will stay in the capital for a few more days, so this meeting does not need to be rushed right now. We can discuss this business tomorrow. Your sister and her cat cannot wait, however. Go see what’s going on.”
Tao Zhiwei really appreciated President Wang for understanding this situation.
After receiving Tao Zhiyao’s real-time location, he and his assistant rushed to this pet clinic named “Zhan”.
During this time, Yu Zhan had already confirmed that Pear had the Parvovirus.
The sign that read “Currently Not Open” was hung up at the pet clinic’s entrance. The nurse was doing a full disinfection routine inside.
The rich lady’s doll cat had already received its vaccine and was immune, but she was still worried that her precious cat would get infected. She quickly left with her cat, but before she left, she said in a loud voice that she was going to go to another pet clinic to examine her pet again. If there were any issues, she would still come back to interrogate Yu Zhan!
However, at this time, there was no one to answer her.
Tao Zhuhai sat on a chair, numb and helpless. According to what she knew, Parvovirus was a disease that could not be cured for kittens, and there was basically no hope for it to be cured.
Or else, why would Parvovirus be called the cat plague? Since it was a plague, it was a horrific calamity.
Although she had only had Pear for four days, she put all her passion for kittens in these past few days on Pear. To Tao Zhiyao, Pear was her treasure.
The rich lady had already said that she gave her doll cat the best things.
Tao Zhiyao was no different. The cat toys, cat shelves, and cat snacks she had bought online were all on their way to her house, but here Pear was, lying on this small clinic bed, struggling to breathe. He was surviving only on the transfusion.
All her immense passion and care got returned by despondency and helplessness. She really didn’t like this feeling. This was probably a similar feeling to Mr. Hong, when his dog, Da Huang, crashed into a car. She could only pray that Yu Zhan’s medical knowledge could not be beaten and that he could cure Pear.
The cat plague would not infect humans, but Yu Zhan did not permit anyone to get close to Pear. He said that Pear had a very weak immune system at the moment; any change to the environment could deteriorate his disease.
Ye Ziliang could not help with anything. He also loved cats and knew if he told Tao Zhiyao not to worry right now, he wouldn’t be appreciated. Comforting her was useless. They could only wait!
However, Ye Ziliang never stopped filming. He filmed everything: the argument between the rich lady, Yu Zhan, and everyone else, Pear’s disease, Yu Zhan and the nurse working so hard.
When Tao Zhiwei got here, Yu Zhan had just finished salvaging Pear, and he felt very much exhausted. He sat on a chair in the front hall and took a gulp of water.
Tao Zhiyao wanted to ask him about Pear but didn’t dare to. She was scared that she would hear terrible news.
Yu Zhan could see how scared she was and took the initiative to comfort her, “Parvovirus is not as scary as you imagine it to be. Many cats who die from Parvo died only because their virus were discovered too late and their treatment got delayed; they may also die because of unskillful vets or from incorrect treatment. Pear’s disease isn’t at its worst, so it isn’t too late.”
Yu Zhan’s words lit up hope in Tao Zhiyao’s heart. Her eyes that looked at Yu Zhan contained genuine anticipation and appreciation, as if she was looking at a God, “Do you promise that you can cure him?”
Yu Zhan said, “I promise.”
Tao Zhiwei and his assistant, at this time, pushed through the door and came in. Tao Zhiwei’s aura was domineering. The nurse, who was spraying her disinfectant, was so scared that her hand slipped, and she almost sprayed it onto him. She was very shocked and said cowardly,
“Uh… Sorry, sir, we are closed today.”
Tao Zhiwei, as if he didn’t hear her words, stared at Yu Zhan, examining him.
Just now, through the glass doors, he saw his sister with her eyes “glued” onto this man. She looked at this man so “lovingly” and “admiring”. Was this the man his sister liked?
Sure, she did admire Yu Zhan, but as for the other details, Tao Zhiwei was really overthinking…
When Tao Zhiwei studied this man a little more, he felt like this man looked familiar? No, he looked super familiar!
“Brother,” Tao Zhiyao, when seeing her brother, felt so surprised that she stood up, “Why are you here in person?” She thought her brother would just send an assistant here; Tao Zhiwei had always done this before.
How could she have known that Tao Zhiwei had already realized the chasm within their relationship and how they’ve been like strangers. He wanted to fix this relationship in time; after all, Tao Zhiyao was his only sister.
The nurse exclaimed. He was worthy of being Tao Zhiyao’s brother. When he came in, he was glowing and had his own background music, just like Tao Zhiyao’s appearances. Was this what a Gao Fu Shuai was like?
TL’s Note: Gao Fu Shuai is something people call men that are tall, rich, and handsome.
Ye Ziliang was also studying Tao Zhiwei. In his opinion, Tao Zhiwei seemed to be similar to He Lishen and Cheng Sheng; they were probably in the same friend circle.
“I’m here to see what’s going on. I’m worried about the cat, and I’m worried about you,” Tao Zhiwei said.
Her brother’s concern made Tao Zhiyao’s tight nerves finally relax.
“I’m fine. The cat is probably fine too,” Tao Zhiwei said and glanced at Yu Zhan. Yu Zhan smiled and nodded.
Hm? They dared to “flirt” with each other in front of him!
Tao Zhiwei felt uncomfortable on the inside. He examined Yu Zhan again up-close, and he suddenly had a huge discovery. He asked Tao Zhiyao, “Is this the vet in that pet documentary?”
“You watched ‘Vet’s Cuties’ too?!” Tao Zhiyao was very surprised and glad. She really wanted the creation that she was a part of to be recognized by her family.
“Mhm, I skimmed through it. It’s a great film.”
Tao Zhiwei reached out a hand towards Yu Zhan, “Hello, I’m Tao Zhiyao’s brother, Tao Zhiwei.”
Seeing this familiar face in front of him, being much more mature than the one in his memories. Yu Zhan raised his brows and laughed lightly. It looked like after he grew up, he had changed too much. Tao Zhiwei didn’t even recognize him.
Yu Zhan pretended as if he didn’t know him and shook his hand, “Hello, I’m Yu Zhan.”
Tao Zhiwei was stunned. His eyes widened at a speed the naked eye could see, and he stared at Yu Zhan with an unbelievable expression.
“You are Ah Zhan!”
“It’s me, Zhiwei ge.”
The familiar nickname from his teenager time made Tao Zhiwei feel nostalgic and excited, “When did you come back to China?”
“At the end of last year.”
Tao Zhiwei hit his shoulder heavily, “You brat. You came back without saying a thing, and it’s been a year without you contacting any of us.”
Tao Zhiwei used lots of force Yu Zhan felt painful, but his eyes were still smiling, “It’s not late yet to start contacting you guys, isn’t it?”
Tao Zhiyao was very much confused. She watched as her brother and Yu Zhan get along with each other like brothers. It looked as if they were going to hold hands and hug. His brother was much closer to Yu Zhan than he was to her.
So, in conclusion, she was indeed like the extra pickle that came with a box of meal!
So, when she felt like Yu Zhan looked familiar back then, she wasn’t hallucinating!
