Villain MMORPG: Almighty Devil Emperor and His Seven Demonic Wives

Chapter 631: Scared Of Disappointment

Villain Ch 631. Scared Of Disappointment

"Yes," said Vivian. A grin spread across her face, mischief dancing in her eyes. Her hand tightened around his, and there was an unspoken reassurance in that grip.

"Sorry for keeping it a secret from you, Allen," she said, her tone playful yet sincere. "We figured, based on your whole ’let’s keep it low-key, celebrate on the weekend’ vibe, you’d downplay the whole thing. But today’s the first day, the day you officially became a Goldborne. We couldn’t let it pass without a little celebration.

You just found your new family, and we’re not about to let you spend it alone."

Vivian’s words hit Allen like a wave of warmth. He couldn’t deny that his default mode was to be as independent as possible, and he had a knack for pushing things to the weekend. He’d probably have brushed off the significance of this day if left to his own devices.

Larissa chimed in, "It’s not everyday someone officially becomes a Goldborne. We had to make it special." Read latest chapters at empire

Jane, holding a present, added, "And we know you would miss the whole point."

Bella winked at him. "Besides, what’s life without a few unexpected surprises?"

Allen stood there, a bit dumbfounded. Yeah, they nailed it. That was so him. He rarely asked for anything, always playing it cool, because deep down, he was scared. Scared of disappointment, scared that whatever he wished for wouldn’t live up to the hype in his head.

Their words hit home because. He was that guy who’d downplay the significance of his own moment. It wasn’t because he didn’t appreciate gestures or didn’t want to feel special. It was just this nagging fear, an old habit of not wanting to set himself up for disappointment.

It wasn’t like this for no reason. Life had thrown him curveballs, and too often, what he got didn’t quite match the picture in his head. Expectations met reality, and it hurt. He’d been burned by it enough times that he built a fortress around himself. A fortress made of nonchalance and ’I’m good on my own’ vibes.

In the past, especially when it came to moments in his life, Allen had felt that sting too many times. He became numb to the idea of someone genuinely caring about the little things.

Bella nudged Allen with a teasing grin. "What’s the matter, cool guy? Why are you speechless?" Her mischievous smirk added an extra layer of intrigue, an expression they probably hadn’t anticipated pulling from him. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Allen, caught off guard, ran a hand through his hair, attempting to play it cool. "I don’t know what to say. I’m really happy," he admitted, a genuine smile spreading across his face. Inside, there was this bubbling urge to do something crazy, like hug them all or plant kisses on their cheeks.

Zoe, adding her two cents with a nonchalant tone, chimed in, "Oh, come on, it’s just a surprise party." She shrugged. This kind of party was the most common thing in this modern era among the young generation and adults.

Vivian leaned in with a conspiratorial air, cupping her hand around her mouth like she was about to spill some top-secret gossip. "And it’s not really a surprise since Kai spilled the beans that you guys were here," she confessed, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Vivian had been on the verge of a mini heart attack when Kai casually mentioned them at the mansion entrance, but she played it cool now, like it was all part of the grand plan.

Jane hissed, "What a party pooper." She cringed, clearly not thrilled with Kai’s unintentional spoiler.

Allen, however, took it in stride. A genuine smile graced his face as he shrugged, "It’s fine. This is my first surprise party, and I’m genuinely happy. The fact that you guys went through all this trouble is enough to surprise me." His gratitude was palpable, and it wasn’t just for the party. It was for the gesture, the fact that each of them took the time to be here and orchestrate this surprise.

It was a blessing for him.

Shea’s eyebrows shot up in disbelief, her frown deepening. "Huh? This is your first one? Seriously? Have you ever celebrated any kind of celebration with your friends before? Like, a birthday, for example," she questioned, her tone a mix of incredulity and concern.

Allen paused, mulling over Shea’s words. It hit him that, in all honesty, he hadn’t celebrated much with friends. His last birthday bash had probably involved blowing out candles on a cake with his late grandparents. That was around fifteen years ago. He never really spilled the beans on his birthday to his friends, and he certainly hadn’t thrown any parties.

He shook his head from side to side, a realization settling in. "Yeah, I never really did the whole celebration thing," he admitted, almost surprised himself by the revelation.

Jane exclaimed in disbelief, "You can’t be serious. Not even a birthday party?"

"I celebrated some with my friends, but it’s just not my moment, not my birthday," Allen defended himself, trying to salvage some pride as the girls started throwing him those pitying glances.

The pitiful looks persisted, and Allen couldn’t help but think, ’Right… I just chose the wrong words.’ The atmosphere was veering dangerously close to gloom, and he knew he had to fix this. No way was he letting the cheerful vibe morph into a pity party.

Allen, sensing the need to shift gears and kick off the party vibes, thought on his feet. "Um, oh right. How about we get the party started?" he suggested, his eyes scanning the expansive room. It dawned on him that this new Goldborne mansion room was bigger than his entire apartment.

His attempt to steer the conversation was met with enthusiasm. "Let’s start by exploring my room, shall we?" he proposed, hoping to infuse a dose of excitement into the atmosphere.

The girls caught on to Allen’s intention to lift the vibe. Shea, with a knowing smile, chimed in, "We’ve already explored your room. Alex gave us the grand tour. But don’t worry, we’ll still give you the official room tour, personalized just for you."

Jane interrupted, "But first..." She snatched the bag hanging on Allen’s shoulder, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I’ll help you sort this out."
