Chapter 114: One Second!
Alvin, Linfel, Milia, and Nori appeared in the same Spaceship as before. There, a few Maguses and Familiars who didn't take part in the test were still waiting. Other than them, there were also those who survived the test.
Alvin couldn't help but find somewhere to sit straight away, and so did Milia. Nori wasn't much better, lying on Milia's lap with a very feeble amount of Magic Energy coming from his core. 40 Clicks, or a little bit over 40 hours... No sleep, no real rest. The times they took to rest their bodies on the asteroid were filled with tension since they had to pay attention to their surroundings nonstop.
It was physically, mentally, and magically tiring.
*Zun, zun, zun, zun, zun...*
The various screens once again turned ON, and Mosie appeared with the other elders. "Congratulations! Everyone who survived this test should feel proud of themselves. Even if you hadn't made it into the top 7032, which was the exact 1% of the participants, you still gained a lot. You can use that experience for the next test if you are still within the age limit.
Or, in case you won't be anymore, use it in your life as Maguses and Familiars."
Mosie continued. "Now then, I'm well aware that you all are very tired. Maguses and Familiars at your levels shouldn't have a problem staying awake this long, but the situation itself was hundreds of times harder to deal with. I will let you all sleep soon."
"But first, check your MCOMs. Those who passed the test should have received a message," Mosie spoke.
Linfel's group did as they were asked, checking their MCOMs. Sure enough, the four of them passed, and their final rankings were written there. The same went for the other participants who passed.
"Now then, I believe you all checked it already. Those who passed the fourth test will be taking a different Spaceship. As for the rest, you will all be sent back to your own planets. Please cooperate with the organizers."
Linfel looked at Alvin and the others. "Come on, get up. We need to move to the next Spaceship."
Alvin, Nori, and Milia couldn't help but silently curse. The wisp got it so easy that he wasn't even a little bit tired. They wish they could say the same.
Of their spaceship, only 14 Maguses and Familiars made into the top 7000. That was a pretty low number, considering the number that came first. The others could only watch and sigh, jealous that they couldn't follow that group. Obviously, Linfel's group were the only Level Three participants of their Spaceship.
The next Spaceship, a much bigger one, arrived shortly after, taking Linfel and the others. Inside the new Spaceship of the Ventis Sect, they met the other participants of the fourth test. The numbers continued to increase as the Spaceship passed by the other Spaceships and collected everyone. Finally, a total of 7032 participants came aboard.
A few minutes later, Linfel saw through the window the many spaceships disappearing in rays of blue light, all of them entering the fourth-dimensional realm. "There goes our friends."
Alvin saw that as well. "We are still here. Could it be the next test is also on the asteroid?"
Before Linfel could answer, Mosie arrived with the other elders, including Alexandra. He went to the middle and up to the stage that had been prepared in advance. "37 Level Five Maguses and Familiars, 6815 Level Four Maguses and Familiars, last but not least, 180 Level Three Maguses and Familiars. You are the 7032 successful victors of the fourth test. Well done."
*fiuuuuuu...*
Suddenly, the entire room was filled with a faint gray light, covering all the participants who made it to the next test. As it happened, Mosie continued to speak. "For the fifth exam, only one thing will be tested: Your mental strength! Have a good night!"
*Tud...*
Alvin looked to the side and saw Milia falling to the ground. "Milia!"
*Tud... tud, tud, tud, tud...*
Before he could check what happened, Nori fell by Milia's side. They weren't the only ones. Familiars and Maguses began to fall one after another. Alvin felt his vision spin for a moment and quickly followed the rest of the participants, falling on the ground as well. Other than the Level Five Maguses and Familiars, Alvin had been one of the last to fall.
Finally, those at Level Five fell asleep as well, not being able to fight that sleepiness. Whatever was happening, it affected both Familiars and Maguses. Without a doubt, it was something related to the soul.
Looking at that, Mosie nodded, satisfied. "It will take a few hours before the first one wakes up. Let's go have a tea while we wai-"
"Ahem... excuse me..." It was then that a voice cut Mosie's voice, surprising the elders in the stage.
Mosie and the others looked over, and there a Wis- Ahem! A Familiar floated, seemingly fine. "You... how are you still awake?"
Naturally, that was Linfel. "I see. So it was truly you who put them to sleep. What kind of test is this? It doesn't seem like my master is in any danger from what I can feel in his body."
Mosie, obviously, recognized Linfel. "Aren't you the Familiar who played with the Star Rays like they were dogs?"
Linfel nodded, scratching the back of his head, ashamed. "Oh, you saw that? Sorry, sorry. I wasn't trying to do anything bad to them."
Mosie, still surprised, shook his head. "Forget about that. Just answer my question. How are you still awake? Do you know what we did just now?"
Linfel was completely confused. "I have absolutely no idea. All I can tell is that this gray energy, or whatever it is, entered everyone's souls. Then, everyone fell asleep. It was quite weird... for a second, I felt like I saw a past friend of mine.
Then, he smiled and disappeared. From the moment he appeared to the moment he disappeared, I felt like I lost the track of time, too. What was that about?"
Mosie and the others were even more surprised. That was a common test of mental fortitude in the Ventis Sect. It used Soul Power, which was quite powerful against Low-Level experts. However, only Level Eight Maguses, Familiars, or higher level ones could use Soul Power, which explains why Linfel didn't know about it. Serfen Planet didn't have a single Magus or Familiar at Level Eight, after all.
That wasn't a problem here, though. If you wanted to become a Minor Elder in the Ventis Sect, you had to reach Level Eight at the very least. There was no lack of such individuals in this Spaceship, especially Mosie, who was at Level Nine.
Hearing Linfel's description, it was obvious that he was also affected by the soul power technique. It was supposed to make him fall into a deep sleep and have a dream. What kind of dream would depend on the individual, and even the elders didn't know what kind. However, that dream would also test the participants' mental fortitude or willpower.
Level mattered not here. All that mattered was how long it would take for you to wake up. The sooner you did, the faster you passed the willpower test in your dreams. Linfel... was affected by the Soul Power, and he did lose his consciousness... for a second!
That was how long his willpower test lasted. That's how strong Linfel's Mental Fortitude was!
Mosie's mouth twitched when he realized that fact. "Errr... Ahem! Congratulations. You passed."
