Chapter 87
87 Joining hands
“Boom”
Layton was caught unawares as the dragon suddenly exploded, the intricate energy that made up its proud body structure spontaneously collapsed and erupted in a deadly explosion, a gorgeous but deadly blue light bloomed covering Layton and the dragon, the sudden light although devoid of heat was filled with a deadly atmosphere as the qi it was comprised of released a huge amount of pressure and force of such intensity that seemed to crush and split into pieces everything that came in contact with it in that short moment.
“Cough cough”
A soft coughing sound could be heard from the smoke that had emerged as a result of the earlier explosion coming out of the smoke was a coughing Layton, there was a huge grin on his face despite the drops of blood that crept out of his lips, his clothes were torn to pieces only some stubborn fragments and strips of fabric still covering his upper body, his trousers torn becoming shorts with holes in them and all over his body and faces one could see the bruises and cut marks which decorated his skin.
Although Tang qi and Igor saw his injured posture there was no smile on their faces instead their looks became solemn, they could see a small transparent shard lying quietly in the wizard’s palm, they did not need to think twice to know that despite the explosion the wizard had gotten what he wanted, the next scene confirmed their speculation, the transparent shard like glass flew into the wizard’s head, sinking into it perfectly and silently like a piece of ice melting into water.
“Magia Erebia spark” Layton whispered to himself, with his words there was a short powerful fluctuation that emerged which sent the instincts of Igor and Tang qi ringing in alarm as they felt a profound sense of danger from their spirits.
The wizard had not changed much on the surface only that his wounds had already healed and his eyes shone brightly despite its current pale white colour. The wizard gazed at them and smiled as his mist suddenly enveloped the area.
“Magia Erebia spark” it was the same spell as Layton normal Magia erebia which he had developed in the avatar plane but this new one was not focused on his own body but the fragment of soul he had absorbed, the spell burnt the fragment releasing all the information and emotion stored in that piece all at once, the spell was mostly aimed at providing a huge amount of psionic for Layton to use and squander while the original Magia Erebia spell mainly provided energy for the body and the effect on his psionic was subpar.
It was named spark because the fragment under the stimulation of the spell would spontaneously erupt releasing a short bright light much like a spark, the short bright light which would then bring with it a surge in psionic energy that would put no strain on his soul.
.....
With the activation of the spell and the huge amount of energy released Layton felt the psionic flood his body, and with that he felt and exercised absolute control over his natural bio magnetic field, the field at this moment was basically an extension of his body and mind, at this moment Layton caught a glimpse of what a real legend felt in their own domain, in fact, Layton knew that if he was not a wizard but a martial art practitioner who studied national martial arts he just needed to expand his bio magnetic field and solidify it to become a legend but he couldn’t do that after all he was a wizard and although he was not certain he had a faint feeling that this battle was being watched, he did not need to think twice to know that if a solace or Makarov heard about him using Martial arts to break through their faces would definitely not be pretty.
‘I can’t even breakthrough if I wanted to after all the prohibition that restricts breakthrough is still there, and I am not as crazy as tang qi to split my soul into pieces to avoid the blockade.’ Layton thought to himself wryly.
Layton roused himself from his diverging thoughts and gazed upon his opponents and suddenly a wide grin appeared on his face, ‘hiss’ suddenly his pores opened discharging copious amount of mist covering his figure and erasing himself from their sight, his bio magnetic field contracted to his flesh twisting the surrounding light and closely locking in his aura, scent and any other fluctuation of life he inadvertently gave off rendering himself invisible and undetectable as he waltzed toward his foes.
Igor snorted angrily grabbing towards the air exerting gravity pulling all the steam to a point dispersing the cover, but Layton had already vanished from sight nowhere to be seen, Igor and tang qi looked at each other tense awaiting the inevitable attack from the sorcerer. Igor and the qi practitioner both knew from their scarce observations that the wizard was melee inclined and so he would have to come close to them in order to inflict damage of course they weren’t na?ve to think that the wizard was incapable of long range attacks after all the wizard was like them a champion and perception defence and attack methods were perfect at their level the only distinction being each other’s preference.
Igor and Tang qi stood closely together both using their methods of perception to find out the target, Tang qi had stealthily released some insignificant strands of qi to use as an extension of his senses, while Igor had used his powers to slowly attract to himself the surrounding air forming a slow swirling whirlpool that combined with Tang qi water qi increasing its stability and sensing range, they both performed tacitly as if they were long term partners and were not just battling against each other some minutes ago.
They had both decided to band together to eliminate the most threatening opponent and that was Layton at present, it was the same way Layton and Igor had tactically attacked Tang qi when he had become a Cod legend and now that Tang qi had been beaten back to a level 1 practitioner the most threatening contestant on the field right now was without doubt the wizard.
