Chapter 290 Knights of Sin(1)

Chapter 290 Knights of Sin(1)

"Silence!" The mysterious voice shouted.

The lights around Jake suddenly dimmed, with the only source still shining being his red sword.

The room was basked in a red glow as Jake looked around with caution.

"The ancient order welcomes one more. To think that we would accept a heaven defier after all these years…" the voice said. The sound echoed all around Jake and it told him nothing as to where it was coming from.

"Who are you? What is this place?" Jake shouted.

"Where it all started. Whom it all started with."

Immediately, Jake could see that the light around him started to change. Around him, he could see objects moving, flying in the air.

"Are they flying… in reverse?" Jake looked closely as he saw that the small pieces of rubble on the side were flying back into the wall, reviving the wall's previous luxurious exterior.

And the red light was slowly being replaced by a cooler one, much brighter than before.

In front of him, however, was the biggest change. Jake could see six shadows of people in front of him, flickering, and then not flickering.

"It's like a time machine. Maybe a hologram going back in time?" Jake thought as he looked at the six shadows.

The armors they wore were apparent, but their faces were covered with cloaks and masks, and Jake couldn't make out who was who.

"Thousands of years ago, we formed an ancient order. Seven chosen by our Queen to protect the kingdom. Seven for each sin that we embraced." The voice started.

"Wrath"

His sword suddenly lit up once more with its red glare, shining upon him and none else.

"Lust"

To his left, he could see that a pink sword appeared, slightly adjacent to his own, and it was shining on the knight shadow that had appeared next to him.

The knight was a woman, he could make out, with a pink tinted armor.

"Greed"

Jake could see another woman, with a yellow armor this time. He could make out a smile, one that gave him chills even though this was definitely a projection. Her sword also appeared on the table.

The two swords looked illusory compared to Jake's own, telling him that this was definitely an illusion.

"Gluttony"

A huge, plump man sat at Greed's place, basked in a green glow. His sword was huge, twice the size of the others, with a gigantic handle.

His eyes were perfectly round, and nothing else was visible from his face.

"Sloth"

Slumped on his seat, Sloth had a blue sword that looked nothing like one. It was like a ribbon that flowed.

"Pride"

Jake could see the familiar purple glow that he faced just a day ago. But the shape of the man that took its place was different.

These were not the current knights of sin, definitely. They were the original knights, and maybe after thousands of years, everyone who inherited these roles changed.

A stout sword appeared on Pride's end, glowing with a purple aura.

"Envy"

To his right, was a pitch black armor and a hood that covered everything about the man that sat next to him.

Envy didn't give off any light. His sword was the sole sword that didn't glow, and it gave Jake a chill the moment he looked at it.

"Seven of us. The Order of Sin."

The moment the voice said this, all the swords, including Envy, shone brightly, and they all came together to the center of the table.

They fused.

The swords started to become one as they came close to each other, and rainbow lights flooded the room.

Jake looked closely as the swords all fused into one singular entity. One sword that shone with a rainbow brilliance.

Its handle was red and pink, its guard yellow, and the blade was cyan with a black shadow cast over it.

But Jake could see that only the red was most solid as a color among it all.

"A divine force that was split. There are only seven mortals who wield something remotely divine. And all of them are in this order." The voice said.

"To protect the Queen? To protect Melody? From what?" Jake asked loudly.

"To protect?" The voice chuckled sarcastically.

"We have failed a long time ago in that. And that is why we will forever languish in our failure." It said.

Suddenly, everything around Jake changed.

The surroundings turned from the room that they were in to the giant kingdom that they were under.

He could see the streets of Melody, but instead of being ruined and broken, they were full of people.

The buildings were all intact, and he could see guards and merchants in bustling streets.

They were standing in front of a giant building, shaped exactly like what the emporium looked like, and right where the old man knocked him out.

"The center of the city, this was. Not just the capital of Melody. This was the capital of all of humanity. A testament to all that humanity could be, and everything that it wasn't." The voice said.

"The gods themselves recognized it as a haven for their favorite creation. Blessed it for all that it represented. Every single god gave us their nod, and blessed us with two artifacts."

Jake could see that the sky suddenly changed.

It turned from blue to a rainbow color, and two shining items appeared in the air.

One was the sword that he had just seen. The sword that came from the combination of seven legendary items.

And the second was a set of armor.

"So my sword and armor are just one piece out of seven…" Jake was shocked.

"They are pseudo divine items!" He realized.

"But we knew that something this divine couldn't be held by just one. We split it to seven. And with that, we also split up the god's powers. And the gods."
