Chapter 12: Saving A Damsel In Distress

Chapter 12: Saving A Damsel In Distress

As Jim's consciousness was inside in one of his Blood Minions, Jim could perceive what Blood Minion was perceiving.

Using the Blood Minion of which his consciousness was in, he could see a girl around his age, being chased down by a wolf-type beast. The white wolf was huge enough that it didn't pale in comparison to the size of a horse, but of course, it ran faster than the horse. If not for the girl being fast enough as well, she might already get caught by that beast.

The girl was desperately running. She was holding her left arm as blood was continuously dripping out from it. Her expression was troubled as if she was about to fall at any moment.

Jim's Blood Minion was following them and surprisingly, it didn't lose to them in terms of speed. However, the girl was running in the wrong direction because there was a towering cliff ahead. The girl seemed to not notice it since she was so busy running and the tall trees were covering it, but Jim could clearly see it since his Blood Minion was flying up above.

And just like that, the thought of him that the girl would be trapped on that cliff finally happened. The girl ran to the foot of that cliff as she was nowhere else to go. The wolf that was chasing her was just behind her, preparing to approach its trapped prey.

She then turned around looking at the hungry wolf as she walked backward and leaned herself to the towering cliff before sliding down.

"Don't come any closer!" Her frantic voice was weak as well as her breathing. She was trying to gasp some air just to remain conscious.

The blood continued to drip from her slender left arm, tainting her white dress with blood. The cut from the upper sleeve of her dress could reveal a severe wound if not for the fact that she was holding it with her right hand. And that wound seemed to be caused by the claws of the beast that were chasing her.

"What the heck, the girl is in good luck!" Jim was in a panic not knowing what to do. He then opened his eyes and turned his gaze to the direction of where the girl was.

If his guess was correct, he could tell that it was at least a kilometer away from him. If he calculated the time he would arrive from that distance, given his slow speed, he would arrive there for at least 15 minutes or more, and in that time, the girl might already have been as good as food for the wolf.

Dang it! What should I do now?!

Jim didn't know the girl and he didn't have any obligation to risk his life and save her, but his conscience kept beating him. Jim could not stand watching, knowing that someone was about to be killed by a beast.

He despised any beast so much just like how the beasts despised him, refusing to be his tamed beast!

Seeing that a beast was just about to kill one of his kind, Jim really just couldn't stand it.

But what else could he do? He was not fast and didn't have any mount to summon. He could only watch the girl being eaten by that beast.

"Dang it! Dang it!" As he was flustered and blaming himself for lacking enough skills, he suddenly felt a pounding beat of his heart, assaulting his eardrums.

"What's happening?" Jim thought with his eyes widened.

His instinct was telling him that he could exchange position to his Blood Minion that was in there flying just a few meters above the beast wolf.

As the hungry wolf was slowly approaching the desperate girl who was slowly losing her consciousness while continuing to hardly gasp some air, Jim had no choice but to follow his instinct if he really wanted to save the girl.

He then focused himself on his Blood Minion and shrieked, "Exchange!"

Swooosh!

And just like that, as his mind and heart became one with his word, he was immediately transported to where his Blood Minion was and vice versa. But the Blood Minion was flying above the wolf and that caused him to fall down from above.

"What the heck!" Jim could only grit his teeth as he fell. He felt that his intestine was as if escaping from his stomach.

Luckily, it wasn't that high that could threaten his life so he immediately readied a punch against the wolf. While he was falling with his head first he then bellowed in his loudest,

"Katapusan Mo Na! [1]"

Sapak!

It was a perfect hit onto the head of the wolf. The moment his punch made contact with the wolf, it was as if the time was halted and he was stuck in the midair. The wolf was then helplessly fell on the ground as its life immediately escaped from it.

However, it was not the impact from his punch that killed the wolf in that instant but instead, the moment Jim's punch landed on its head, the wolf's blood was sucked dry by his fist, leaving only the dried corpse of the wolf.

The girl saw it! Something from above, no, someone fell from above. The wolf that was about to eat her and was only a few meters away from her was suddenly struck down by that someone.

But the girl's sight was becoming more blurry and she could only see the back of a young boy standing beside the wolf. As she was having trouble holding onto her consciousness, she then finally lost it, leaning on the side of the cliff.

Meanwhile, Jim who just saw what he just did, could barely believe it. In just a single punch, the wolf died? And it actually became a dried corpse without having a chance to rot?

But the most shocking part was that he could feel his life force had increased a bit.

As he was standing next to the wolf and was staring at its dry corpse, a splitting image immediately came to his mind as if he already saw something like that.

Scratching his head, he kept recalling where he saw something like that, but sadly, he failed to catch the memory.

Of course, he was recalling the dried corpses of the beasts he always encountered before whenever he woke up in the middle of it after encountering a near-death experience. He just couldn't recall it at the moment.

As he gave up recalling, he then ignored the wolf and turned around instead to look for the girl. And there he saw the unconscious girl leaning weakly on the cliff. He then immediately ran towards the girl and saw her in a very weak state, gasping unconsciously.

Gasp, gasp, gasp.

"Just how the heck did this girl wander alone in this forest? And just how is she able to run so fast in this state!?" Jim muttered to himself with a slight frown revealed on his face.

"Now what!? What should I do?" Jim never encountered this kind of situation before so he really didn't know what to do. He had finally saved the girl from the beast but he was yet to save the girl from the other threat.

Should I panic? Or call for help? Or cry?

In the end, Jim chose to continue following his instinct. He raised his hand and pointed his index finger towards the girl. A drop of blood came out from its very tip and floated a centimeter away from his index finger, forming a bead of blood the same size as his nail.

"Oh? This blood again?" Jim stared at his blood as he thought for it that that blood might be able to save the girl. He then shifted his gaze back to the girl and saw the wounds on her shoulder that were now becoming purple in color.

"Is this a poison?" Jim noticed. "Can this blood really be able to cure her?"

There's no point in thinking!

Jim finally let his blood float to the girl's wound and just like that, just within a few seconds, her wounds were healing on their own and her state was becoming much better. Her breathing became stable and calm, and her wound closed in itself, leaving nothing even a tiny bit of scar.

However, the girl still remained unconscious, sleeping prettily as Jim was staring at her.

"So cute!" Jim forgot to be astonished at his own ability as he was dazed gazing at her beauty until...

Roar!!!

Screech!!!

Another beast, no, several beasts were roaring and screeching from inside the woods near the bottom of the cliff they were in. Jim couldn't help but be enveloped by goosebumps all over his body from that sound of many beasts.

Dang it! Are you kidding me?!
