Chapter 125: Buto-buto Family
Chapter 125: Buto-buto Family
But as the two were walking in a certain direction, Ben suddenly recalled their father and mother being killed. He turned sad again as he said, "But Ati Jessa, we have nothing there to return to anymore..."
Their little house was been mercilessly burned into ashes, they had currently no place to go back into.
"We will just build a new house." The lady named Jessa chuckled softly. "Besides, we will have more companions this time."
"You're planning to bring them?" Ben asked.
"That's a good idea right?" Jessa responded.
"..." Hearing that, Ben didn't speak any more words. He wasn't agreeing but he wasn't disagreeing as well. Whatever his elder sister wanted, so be it. He was just hoping that by doing this, his elder sister could at least forget about her sadness. After all, her parents had just been killed.
After some time of walking, they finally reached their distance in a small village. The village was deathly silent and from the looks of it, the village was already been destroyed. Many corpses and blood could be found being splattered everywhere.
"You've really caused so much destruction..." Upon arrival, Jessa could only comment seeing the condition of the village. Not even a house remained standing.
"Hmph! This is nothing compared to what they had done to us!" Hearing the remark of his elder sister, Ben snorted coldly.
Jessa only shook her head as a response. How could their little house be compared to a small village?
With Jessa leading the way, they entered the village. As they entered, she asked, "Anyway, how could an X-rank Hunter that will save the world be this cruel?"
"Hmph! I'm not a Hunter! That damned old man should have called me an X-rank Assassin!" Ben harrumphed coldly, refusing to be called a mere Hunter. After a moment of pause, he then continued, "And also, I can save the world by killing this kind of scumbags! A light shall illuminate all darkness, and I am The Light!"
Of course, his elder sister knew the matter about him as an X-rank Hunter and the other things. He told her and their parents about it after all. Ben trusted them, and telling such matters was no big deal for him at all.
"Haha," Jessa on the other hand, laughed dryly. This little brother of hers was really daring. He even called one of the Four Greatest Hunters as a 'damned old man' and even dared to claim the title 'The Light' as his. Nonetheless, she added, "But isn't you a Hunter? Look at this, you only need to claim all their heads and bring them to the Hunter Association and you can be called a Bounty Hunter!"
"..." Ben actually thought about it. But before he could even nod in agreement, he heard his elder sister speaking again,
"Just kidding. Don't forget that you have a bounty as well in your head." Jessa laughed as she teased her little brother. "If you bring their heads to them, they might as well get your head too!"
"Ugh..." Ben was hit by those words and almost tripped when heard it. So as a final retaliation for the battle of words, he said, "Even so, as long as those old fogeys from the Hunter Association don't make a move, no one can beat me now!"
"Yes, yes." Jessa could only agree while laughing, "My little brother is the strongest!"
But Ben felt that it was a praise that wasn't a praise. But upon seeing that the other party was happy, he gave up and turned silent.
After some time, they finally reached to a certain house. It was ruined though. They entered the house and there was actually a path leading to an underground chamber.
After a moment of pause, they entered the path until they finally reached their distance to the underground chamber.
Lights coming from crystal lights around illuminated the surroundings revealing an iron cage inside. Inside of it were few ladies with tattered clothes and many cuts to their bodies. They were about eight of them.
The ladies hugged each other with fear upon seeing the incoming Jessa and Ben as if they were the bandits who caused them their trauma.
Jessa sighed deeply in lament. These ladies were treated as a plaything by those bandits and just like her, she knew that they had no more families left to return to. If she wasn't kidnapped by those bandits then who knew if these ladies could still see the rays of the sun for the rest of their life?
Jessa reached her hand towards the cage as something like electricity greeted her. She was pushed away as Ben immediately caught her while saying, "Careful!"
"Thank you..." Jessa stood up straight as she shifted her gaze to the iron cage. It appeared that the magic spell enchanting the cage was still yet to dissolve even after all the bandits were all been killed.
"Can you cut this cage?!" Jessa asked her little brother.
"Of course, there's nothing I cannot cut!" Ben replied. After which, the bone dagger from before had sprouted out from his hand. He only made a few swings and the iron cage had then turned into pieces and were blown away leaving only the ladies.
The ladies widened their eyes in shock and fear as their trembling bodies grew stronger.
Jessa immediately gave Ben a good punch onto his head as she scolded, "You've gone too far! Are you trying to show off or what?! Don't you see that those ladies are already terrified enough?!"
"Argh... But I didn't harm any of them. My strength is controlled!" Ben snorted as he held his head with his other hand to ease the pain. If the other party was any other person, he would have killed her already or at least dodged that punch. But since she was his beloved sister, he could only receive her punch with as if open arms.
Sapak!
Ben received yet another punch.
"Are you trying to argue with me?!" Jessa scolded yet again. "The point is not about your strength being controlled or not, but the feelings of those ladies!"
"Ugh..." Ben didn't try to say any more words. He was afraid that his elder sister would punch him again. Although it didn't hurt that much, he was worried that his elder sister might end up hurting her hand instead.
After scolding her little brother, Jessa shifted her gaze to the ladies as she walked in their direction. She lied down in front of them as she said softly, "Don't worry, we're here to save you all."
The ladies traded their glances before finally, one of them, probably the youngest, stepped forward and kneeled in front of Jessa. "Please save my big brother!"
Jessa was a little shocked. Instead of her own safety, she was more worried about her big brother. This young lady was surely caring! Jessa was really happy about that.
"Where is he? What happened to him?" Jessa asked.
"A few days ago, I was kidnapped by those bandits. My entire family was killed except for my big brother who was away to buy some stuff from the city. After knowing what happened to us, he rushed here to save me b-but..." The lady sniffed. She was having a hard time continuing her words but she still continued while grinding her teeth and with her tears coming out from her eyes, "He failed to save me and was being tortured by those beasts..."
After which, the lady started crying. Jessa felt sympathy towards her though. She helped her to stand up but the lady refused to. Jessa could only sigh deeply as she asked, "Where is he?"
The lady didn't raise her head as she only pointed her forefinger in a certain direction.
Jessa followed her gaze to where the other party was pointing and to her surprise, she saw her little brother already standing in there with his back against them. What was his little brother doing there?!
But to her yet another shock, Jessa had just noticed that in front of her little brother, was a man chained and glued into the wall. Jessa stood up as she walked in that direction.
"This..." Upon arrival, Jessa caught a clearer look towards the man. His appearance was in his thirties and a sign of being whipped countless times was revealed by the other party's naked body. She was just thankful that there was still a sign of life left from the other party.
"This guy is pretty strong..." Amidst her astonishment, she heard her little brother expressing his praise. Jessa was really surprised hearing that.
She knew that it was rare for her little brother to acknowledge someone as good enough. After all, he was looking down on everyone. Even before when he still yet to receive the blessings from one of the Four Greatest Hunters, this little brother of her often bragged that he could escape an S-rank beast that no one in the Hunter Association within his age could ever do. He was even mocking those Hunters for failing to catch him from time to time even though their rank was several times higher than him.
But now, in all of a sudden, her little brother would just praise some random guy. Was this half-dead man really that strong?
"How strong is he?" Jessa asked Ben. She trusted his judgment about this. After all, he had just received a blessing from one of the Four Greatest Hunters. His judgment should have been improved by a lot.
"Hmmmm... Probably about a hundredth of my current strength..." Ben responded. After which, he swung his dagger into the midair and the other party was freed from his chain as he fell on the ground.
Ben looked at the other party's back and there he saw a birthmark of something like a skull on his right upper back. Sure enough, this guy really belonged to the Buto-buto Family!
