You're My Only Star

Xia Yu watched as the man continued to feed her porridge.

A few seconds later, she realized that she was being tricked.

It was her legs that were injured. Her hand was perfectly fine and she could eat by herself. Why would she let Huo Yun Chen feed her porridge? However, she was too embarrassed to bring up this matter at this time.

She could only lower her gaze and continued to eat silently. The most important thing was to know what matter did Huo Yun Chen wanted to discuss with her.

Huo Yun Chen put the empty bowl on the side table after Xia Yu had finished eating them. He turned around, took a glass of water with a straw, and let her drink.

He could sense that Xia Yu was looking at him, anticipating what he have to say to her.

However, Huo Yun Chen continued to move at his own pace, not minding the way the girl has been looking at him. He waited until he had settled with everything before he sat down beside the bed.

Then, their gazes met.

"What do you want to discuss with me?" Xia Yu asked. Her face felt warm with the way Huo Yun Chen was looking at her. However, she was curious to know about the matter that he wanted to discuss with her and she had to force herself not to look away.

Huo Yun Chen drummed his fingers on his thigh as he pondered how he should begin. A helpless sigh escaped him upon sensing the girl's anticipating gaze.

"A while ago, your mother showed up at the hospital, wanting to see you."

Her eyes widened when she heard his words. A hint of panic appeared in her eyes. Xia Yu was worried that her mother would run into Huo Yun Chen and made things difficult for him. She knew how unreasonable her mother could be.

"Your mother wanted to see you but the guards stopped her downstairs," Huo Yun Chen said. His head lowered as he recalled seeing the way Mother Xia shouted around, demanding to see Xia Yu the moment she stepped into the hospital.

Coincidentally, he was downstairs with his manager and the lawyer that Song Xing Xing had hired in a nearby cafe.

The director of the hospital already heard that he should look after Xia Yu well. Of course, when Xia Yu's mother came to make a disturbance, the director let the guards throw her out.

After all, this was still a hospital and the people needed rest to recuperate.

However, Huo Yun Chen still heard the unreasonable request that Mother Xia had shouted out.

"Your mother..." Huo Yun Chen was a little hesitant to tell her what her mother had said. He was worried that it was going to make her upset.

"What did she want?"

"She wanted you to help drop the charge against your brother," Huo Yun Chen said. "She wanted you to tell the police that everything was an accident."

In Mother Xia's opinion, Xia Yu survived the fall and was alive. Since that was the case, she should help her brother instead of letting him rot in jail. 

Xia Yu lowered her head and her lips turned up into a smile that did not reach her eyes. "I am not going to drop this case. Since he had done something wrong, then, he should be punished for it."

Each time she close her eyes, Xia Yu could see the way her brother was looking at her as he pushed her down.

Her heart raced and it will give her nightmares for a long time.

Huo Yun Chen looked at her in surprise. He was ready to hear her wanting to go along with her mother's demand. Huo Yun Chen had even thought of words he wanted to say to coax her into not letting her brother go.

"Do you think I'm cruel?" Her hand under the blanket clenched into a fist as she waited for his answer.

His gaze softened. "No. You are right. He should be punished since he had done something wrong." There was a brief silence between them before he spoke again, "Then, what are you planning to do now?"

Xia Yu thought about her plan to pursue her study. But now, everything is impossible, isn't it?

"I don't know." She looked away to the windows.

For now, she could only stay here and recuperate. Then, she would have to find a job and repay Huo Yun Chen and Song Xing Xing for their help.

"Xia Yu, why don't you come back with me to Capital City?"

Her head turned to the man again. She wondered if she had misheard his words but his expression told her that he was serious.

"I wouldn't be at ease to leave you here alone," Huo Yun Chen said. "At least I can look after you when you are closer."

Her heart skipped a beat. Xia Yu had to force herself to stop the thoughts in her mind. After everything that happened, she should stop dreaming.

"Why?"

Huo Yun Chen looked at her strangely.

"Why do you want to look after me?"

"Why not?"

A thought crossed her mind and Xia Yu's expression turned uglier. "Did you pity me?" The thought of him wanting to make her a charity case made her feel bad about herself.

"No. That's not it." Huo Yun Chen noticed her gaze and knew that she was thinking too much. "Xia Yu, I am worried about you."

Xia Yu looked away and chuckled. "It's fine. I don't need you to worry about me. I have troubled you and Little Star enough. Huo Yun Chen, don't be too nice to me. Or else, I wouldn't know how to repay your kindness."

The frown on his face deepened. Huo Yun Chen opened his mouth, wanting to say something. Just in time, his phone rang. A look of relief appeared on his face as soon as he saw Song Xing Xing's name on the screen.

Huo Yun Chen walked over to the corner of the room to accept the phone call and pressed the phone to his ear. He only spoke briefly before he went back to Xia Yu's side.

"Xia Yu." Huo Yun Chen stretched his arm at her. "It's Little Star. She wants to talk to you."

Xia Yu hesitated before she took the phone from him.
