Chapter 324

324 Responsibilities

Bang!

Alex slammed the table with a clenched fist while Silver paced around the room with a deep frown.

“You did the right thing by not hesitating to give a positive answer,” Silver said with an indifferent look on his face.

“I lied to my son and the world. Creed knows I lied!” Alex complained.

“But the world doesn’t know. Right now we need them to remain calm and confident in us. We used overwhelming power to gain everything we had now, we need to keep showing overwhelming power to keep it. As for Creed, your son is really smart. Strangely smarter than Little Alex who has my genes so I am sure he understands why you gave such a response at a time like that. You are wasting your thoughts on the wrong thing!” Silver said coldly.

Hearing this, Alex could only sigh helplessly. He knew Silver was right so he had no reason to refute his words. He leaned back on his chair and sighed. His mind couldn’t forget the image of the golden-haired deity. Standing against that man Alex felt like an ant but he kept standing because he knew he had to.

If he didn’t, who would?

If he is killed what happens to everything he has built?

For the first time in a long while, Alex felt a familiar hunger he used to feel when he was younger. The feeling that made him what he is today.

.....

“I want to get stronger. I want to be strong enough to be able to protect everyone” Alex said with sheer resolve blazing in his eyes.

Hearing this Silver smiled and nodded in agreement.

“That’s the spirit. But you need to be around for the meeting with the Danites. If something goes wrong and it comes down to a fight. We will need all the help we can get to take them head-on!” Silver said with a smile and Alex chuckled.

“As soon as we are done with them I may have to visit the sky demon planet. I have maxed out my strength with my other abilities. It’s the only one I haven’t progressed with in a while. To increase our chances of survival, all my abilities must be at their peak” Alex said and Silver gave an unapproving look.

“The alliance has been pushed back. Currently, the sky demon planet is swarmed by the hive and its forces. It’s not advisable to get involved” Silver refused instantly.

“We will get involved eventually! If I can help them hold back the hive an extra day while learning their arts and skills, I have bought our people at least ten days. Don’t forget, the real enemy is the hive and the high gods. Let’s remain focused” Alex said and Silver could only shrink back.

He knew Alex wasn’t wrong but he just couldn’t agree with such a risky plan.

“The king cannot die! It’s game over if that ever happens” Silver said with pleading eyes.

“The king will not die. You of all people know how difficult it is for anyone to take my life” Alex responded with a sly smile.

Silver could only sigh bitterly and agree with Alex. He didn’t have any reason not to let Alex go except for the problem with his safety. But then they have not gotten this far by dodging problems and taking shortcuts.

Thinking about it now, Silver realized had dull ruling the world for five years have done to them. They have become so used to letting people do their dirty job for them and they have become more cowardly than before.

“Go ahead. I will hold down the fort while you are gone but don’t stay away for too long” Silver said with a sigh.

“Thanks. I will be leaving as soon as we are done with the Danite issue. Also, keep this a secret from my wife and kids. You can let Little Alex know, he will understand. Just cover for me while I’m gone” Alex pleaded with two thumbs up.

.............

Little Alex looked outside the window of his private jet, heading to Africa. After the event, he had a brief meeting with Alex and Silver and was relieved to hear no one got hurt. If the two were to fall, the entire alliance and world they have built will fall along with it.

Meanwhile, he heard about the pain Creed and Sharyn had to endure. He paid them a brief visit before leaving for this mission. Right now, he realized things are far more serious than he once thought.

In the private jet with him was his only personal guard and Master, One sword. The mission was already far more complicated after they had noticed the alliance between the God sect and the high gods. No one knows the deals they made but Alex strongly believed they would provide a way for the rebels to survive and cause enough chaos to throw Alex and Silver off balance and make the invasion of the hive more successful.

For that reason, he decided to bring his master along.

“You seem worried,” One sword said after observing Little Alex’s face for a while.

“There are too many things ahead of me now. Too many responsibilities. It feels heavy... too heavy” Little Alex said the last part with a lowered tone.

In his opinion, he is only eighteen years old and he is already forced to deal with such responsibilities.

“When your father was your age, he stood against the entire world and he still fought. He kept fighting without looking back and he was only eighteen. These responsibilities wouldn’t come your way if you are not someone capable of handling it. They sent you here because they strongly believe you will be able to deal with any problem you meet. If the two most powerful men in this world have such high approval of you, why do you still look down on yourself?” One sword asked with a raised eyebrow.

He stated everything like it was an obvious thing that Little Alex should have known already.
