Chapter 144: It seems like I won

Alex fell to the floor but just before he hit the ground, he heard Hades quickly spoke, 'Shoot before you land!'

Hearing Hades's warning, Alex shot the floor before landing. Luckily, he did so and realized that there was another bot waiting for Alex to land before it would attack him. 

Alex landed on the dead bot and grunted once again, 'Landing on that thing was all the same as just getting hit on the ribs.' He spoke as he slowly got up and looked around. 'I think that's it.' Alex smiled as he shot the floor to light up the room once more. 

After a few seconds, The doors to the room opened and Midnight walked in. The lights slowly turned on, showing the huge amount of bot parts on the floor. Alex looked around and slowly counted the numbers, "12 bots? Was this really a fair assessment?" He questioned as Midnight looked at Alex with a surprised expression.

Midnight nodded and took a deep breath, "You never fail to amaze me, Alex. Well, congratulations on winning. I'm sure your care will be updated in a few minutes. Welcome to being an A ranked awakened. You'll be getting more missions soon so you better not hide again to run away from the responsibilities." She looked slightly annoyed.

Alex laughed and nodded, "well, Some things were out of my control but I'll try not to do that again Though, I am curious. What happened when I was gone. I'm sure there were other things that might have happened, which I missed. I remember you all were focused on something, some type of mission." Alex recalled Oj, Midnight, and Imani being called into a meeting and sent for some mission. 

Midnight looked at Alex and sighed, "Well, That was some time ago and things are better now But We still haven't gotten to the end of it. But to put it quickly, our relations with the military haven't really been that good. There are some shady things going on. We've also had some encounters with the Brotherhood but nothing major. Hana took down a huge base that was containing the captured people but It seems like it was emptied just before she attacked so we still have a suspicion that there is a mole among the awakened" 

She walked over to the wall and pressed a button. The wall slowly slid to the side and opened to the arena. Midnight then continued, "There are many things going on but that would be the essence of the main things. Relations with the Military crumbling and we're still trying to find the Brotherhood but they keep on evading us. However, We do think that we're close to finding something." Midnight explained.

Alex nodded, He followed behind Midnight into the arena. 'I guess while I was gone, there might have been something that ruined the relationship between the Bureau and the Military for them to be on not-so-good terms And the brotherhood, I still don't know much about them other than people being brainwashed into following orders and making serums that increase their strengths.' Alex said to himself.

Midnight walked into the arena and smiled, "well, when don't we have a match. You didn't seem to sweat too much in that battle. Granted it seemed to be perfect for that weird move you have. If it was someone who couldn't do a 360 degree attack, it would have been a pain to deal with. But still, you've grown stronger. I want to see to what extent you grew!" Midnight said as she took off her jacket. 

Alex nodded and walked to the arena. He watched as Midnight grabbed a long staff. She then turned to Alex and smiled, "Well, you can use your weapons and it'll be fair." She was confident.

'Kid, Be careful. I'll be helping you in battle as well but this woman is a lot scarier than you'd expect. Don't lose your attention. There is only so much I can help with so it'll mostly be on you!' Hades explained carefully.

Alex nodded and pulled out his guns. He then turned to Midnight and nodded. Midnight nodded back. The two waited in silence, The counter at the top of the area blinked, '3..21 GO!' 

Alex jumped back and shot towards Midnight as quickly as he could, he wanted the long distance advantage. But to Alex's expectation, there was no effect. Midnight ran towards Alex and jumped with the help of the staff. He jumps completely over the flurry of bullets with a wide smile.

Alex also laughed, This was a difficult battle, he could already see himself losing but Alex wanted to get a few hits before he was taken down. "You better do more than that!" Midnight roared. 

Alex lost control over his body when he heard Midnight. 'Ahh, that woman.' Alex took a deep breath and jumped away. As Alex jumped back, he saw the staff slowly strike where he stood. Alex was a hair length away from almost getting his head bashed. 

Midnight looked at Alex and smiled, "Look at you, You gained control pretty quickly. That means you're not that far from me in terms of ability." She seemed to be having fun. 

Alex smiled back and spoke, "Well, I've got to hand it to you, I know I'll lose but I won't go down without swinging." Midnight laughed when she heard Alex and sprinted towards him. Alex also jumped forwards and rushed towards Midnight. 

'This will end up in a clash!' Alex thought as he readied himself. Alex pressed the buttons at the side of the gun and retracted the blades. 

*shoosh*

Midnight slid towards Alex. She was aiming for his legs. Alex jumped upwards and threw one gun towards Midnight. 

Midnight swung the staff towards Alex in the air, slamming him to the ground. However, The gun that Alex threw to the floor cut Midnight's arm. 

It was clear who won, Alex was lying on the ground, unable to move for a moment. Midnight grabbed her arm and stood up and smiled, "It seems like I won." She smiled.
