Chapter 158 Fabian’s Shock
Arlan revealed a playful smile when he heard Donnyl's words. "You want me to protect you?" He laughed as if he heard the funniest joke in his life.
Donnyl's face fell. He thought that he could wiggle his way out of this by exposing the president, but it seems like he had overestimated his value in Arlan's eyes.
Arlan squatted in front of Donnyl and move his face closer to the latter as he muttered. "You see, I already have the evidence that would bring down the president, but I don't want him to just rot in jail. My goal is to...kill him!"
Donnyl shivered upon hearing that. He never thought that this guy was actually planning to kill the president! He couldn't even utter a single word after seeing Arlan's sinister smile.
"Don't worry. You still have some use so you can keep your life for now. Besides, a friend wanted to meet you." Arlan patted Donnyl's face before he stood up and said to the guards. "Tie him up and don't let him escape." He then left the room after giving the command.
Donnyl felt despair in his heart. He didn't even bother to struggle as the guards covered his mouth and tied his limbs with chains.
Outside the enclosed room, Arlan dialed a number and pressed 'call'.

Inside the police chief's office at Taguig City Police Station, Fabian was busy handling some documents. He just returned recently after over a month of absence from work. When he first returned to the station, the police officers were shocked to see him. After all, everyone thought that his chances of survival were slim. They all asked him all sorts of questions, but Fabian only answered them perfunctorily. He had already promised that he won't disclose anything that was related to Arlan.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Fabian raised his head when he heard the knocking on his door.
A stern-looking young woman wearing a police uniform entered his office. "Sir!" She respectfully greeted Fabian.
"Zenny, it's you. Take your seat first." Fabian smiled at her kindly. This woman was one of his students and among all the officers he had trained, she was the fastest to rank up. She was already a Police Corporal and the higher-ups even hinted about giving her another promotion. This was because she had been fairly active during his absence. She had apprehended a few wanted criminals and she even joined a raid on one of Diego's remnant forces which ended in a success.
Zenny took a seat and stared at Fabian. "Sir, I'm happy that you have recovered."
Fabian chuckled as he kept the documents inside his drawer. "You thought I was gonna, right?"
"S-Sir, that..." Zenny was at loss for words.
Fabian shook his head and smiled. "It's fine. I also thought that I would, but it seems like I still have some purpose in this world..."
Zenny wanted to ask how Arlan helped him recover, but looking at Fabian's face, she knew that he wouldn't say anything about it.
"I know that you and the others have a lot of questions, but you just have to remember that Arlan isn't our enemy. I heard that you have been investigating him in the past few weeks..." Fabian's face suddenly turned serious as he stared at her.
Looking at Fabian's expression, Zenny sighed as she said. "I was worried about your safety, sir. That man is filled with mystery. He was only a construction worker two months ago, but he suddenly gained massive wealth that rivaled the assets of the wealthiest families in Maharlika."
"Zenny, he is not our enemy. I promise you that, so please stop your investigations." Fabian warned her. This was for her sake. Arlan might be a law-abiding citizen on the surface, but he wouldn't hesitate to break the law to accomplish his goals.
Zenny furrowed her eyebrows at his words. Just as she was about to say something, Fabian's phone suddenly rang.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
Fabian grabbed his phone with an annoyed look, but when he saw that the caller was Arlan, he quickly answered the call. "Hello, Mr. Roa! How are you?"
"Hello, Uncle Fabian! I'm good! I don't want to bother you at this hour, but I have something important to tell you."
Zenny excused herself when she heard Arlan's name coming out of Fabian's mouth.
Fabian stared at Zenny as she left his office. "Not at all! You can call me any time, Mr. Roa!"
"Come here at the mansion in Forbes Park tomorrow. I'll show you something. You will be surprised." Arlan's words made him curious.
"Alright. I'll drop by your mansion before going to the station." Fabian replied.
"Great! I'll see you tomorrow then." Arlan disconnected the call after that.
Fabian put his phone on the table and thought deeply. He wondered what Arlan was going to show him the next day.

Fabian arrived at the mansion early in the morning. It was still 7 a.m. when he forced Arlan out of bed.
"You're early, Uncle Fabian." Arlan rubbed his sleepy eyes as he resentfully stared at Fabian.
"Hahah! I still have work later so I came here early." Fabian grinned when he saw Arlan's tired face.
Arlan snorted at his words. "Follow me. I'll take you to see him."
"See him?" Fabian was taken aback. He followed Arlan towards the basement of the mansion. He noticed that there were two soldiers guarding the basement door.
Arlan opened the door and gestured for Fabian to enter by tilting his head slightly to the side.
Fabian followed him inside and saw a man whose limbs were tied up in chains. Looking at this person, Fabian narrowed his eyes. He slowly walked closer to the man as he guessed his identity. 'This guy looks familiar. Who is he?'
The person's head was lowered so Fabian couldn't see his face.
Suddenly, the man raised his head, displaying a familiar face.
"Chief Donnyl?!" Fabian's eyes widened when he saw the man's face.
