The Deer Girl mounted her white deer and flitted to the city walls like a phantom. With tearful eyes, she clasped her hands and murmured a prayer for the dead. The sunlight shone on her face, making her look as impeccable as a fairy.

She was careful not to soil her clothes with blood.

But from the corpses, a sword suddenly plunged toward her. It had come from one of the terracotta soldiers emerging from the corpses.

Bam!

The sword had pierced the Deer Girl, but the next instant, the sword stabbed into a neighboring terracotta soldier instead, causing dirt to spray everywhere.

“Grandson—” Miazova warned Shu Yichao. “She’ll be a tricky one. She’s at least capable of charm and spatial transference.”

The Deer Girl suddenly rushed toward them like a burst of wind.

“She’s coming! She definitely has speed enhancement too!”

Shu Yichao swung his modao down, his blade glowing brightly like a brilliant moon in the night sky. There was a flash of white light, and the Deer Girl was sliced into two.

As a veteran player, Shu Yichao could tell right away that the Deer Girl was likely to be a shadow element boss.

He quickly dodged to the side. At the same time, he unleashed lightning from his hands, blasting sand into the sky.

He had sent entire families on their way so that they would have company on their road to the afterlife. It is a blissful reunion rather than a separation! What misery are you talking about?”

The Deer Girl was flabbergasted.

“Tsk!” Shu Yichao glanced at the ground.

Of the twelve silhouettes, only one has a shadow. Do I look blind to you?

He brandished his metal whip, unleashing a furious storm of black metal bits.

Caught off guard, the Deer Girl was perforated with countless holes as if a sheet of paper…

…No, that was indeed a sheet of paper!

Paper bits flew in the air as the Deer Girl’s voice echoed, “I’m not fond of violence, but I still learned some fundamental spells so that I won’t be helpless in the face of danger.”

A green light suddenly shone in the desert like a blossoming Queen of the Night flower.

“…Trying to escape? Do you think I’d let you? ” Shu Yichao glanced at the minimap, where he saw a red dot swiftly fleeing. “Attack, my army! Chase her!”

“Darned grandson!” Miazova shouted. “Be careful. It might be a trap!”

It was now certain that the woman was a Chosen One, an enhanced one on top of that. The consciousness of the world was looking after her; it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the world revolved around her.

It might be disadvantageous for Shu Yichao to recklessly give chase, but, as usual, he went completely deaf when there was a kill on the line.

“This darned grandson! He’ll be the death of me one day!”

A white deer was leisurely strutting in the desert. The Deer Girl sat on the white deer with a head lowered in disappointment.

“Why is that so?”

She couldn’t understand why her spells had all failed today; be it her graceful dance, her euphonious bell, or her prayers for the dead, nothing could appeal to the youth’s conscience. The youth was blind to her charms, be it her intelligence, beauty, kindness, or unyielding spirit…

A cacophony could be heard in the sky.

The Deer Girl raised her head, only to see a huge flock of birds in the sky.

Cinereous vultures, Marabou storks, Himalayan vultures, bearded vultures…

These were scavenger birds. Even non-scavenging birds like eagles and crows had joined the mix too. They had come from all around the world, gathering here together to share a feast.

The birds quivered in excitement as soon as they saw the Deer Girl, and their squawking reverberated in the desert.

“What are they doing?”

The Deer Girl was baffled, but she soon received a warning from the white deer.

“Whitey, you’re saying that they are reporting to someone?”

But who are they reporting to?

I have heard about pigeons and eagles delivering letters, but I have never heard of people using vultures and crows to send a message…

“This is bad!” The Deer Girl was horrified. She patted the white deer and exclaimed, “Whitey, we need to flee!”

“Flee?” Shu Yichao arrived at the scene. Eyeing the conspicuous red dot in the middle of the desert, he raised his metal whip and sneered, “Where do you think you can go?”

Cataclysmic lightning mixed with black metal bits rained from the sky, charring the desert’s yellow sand black.

“How terrible!”

The Deer Girl had no way to deal with Shu Yichao, especially when he was flying in the sky, so she took out a talisman and plastered it on the white deer. There was a flash of green light, and the white deer morphed into a streak of white light and vanished from sight.

But… it was in vain.

After some thought, she made up her mind and said, “Whitey, head in this direction!”

Over at Yizhou, the Tibetan soldiers stationed on the city walls stared fearfully at the distance. They knew a terrifying undead army was unleashing a calamity in the desert, and it was only a matter of time before it arrived at their city.

The city lord had ordered the closure of all city gates. He even personally took charge on the city walls to stop the residents from fleeing.

“Hm?”

A soldier rubbed his eyes, having spotted a flash of white light. He took a closer look and finally saw the true nature of the white light.

It was a masked lady wearing a green dress, riding on a white deer.

“It’s the Deer Girl!” the soldier exclaimed in delight. “We’re saved! The Deer Girl has come to save us!”

“Hold on! What’s that?!”
