MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 877 Four Pillars: Full Circle (6)

Chapter 877  Four Pillars: Full Circle (6)

With his decade-long reign of terror still fresh in the minds of the three other races, Vaughn had afforded the humans he had recreated some leeway, allowing them to be treated relatively nicer than they were before.

However, there were also some amongst the three races that doubled down on their previous actions, treating the humans far worse than they'd been treated before.

Using that as a key motivator for him to make sure his new idea succeeded as quickly as possible, Vaughn went on yet another rampage, wanting to make sure that all of the humans under the three races would have better fates.

Of course, unlike before, where he allowed his anger to get the better of him, the man wreaked havoc this time around with greater intent. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

With that, the man was able to afford himself and the new humans some leeway whilst he delved into the extension of Project Rebirth.

At the same time, he pondered over the perfect time to reintroduce the concept of the system to the humans and the other races on Veldanyr, knowing that reactivating it right now would just lead to greater oppression.

In the end, he decided to think about it some other time, instead focusing his attention on the extension of Project Rebirth for the meantime, which he aptly named Operation Hope.

Watching his past self begin to tinker around with the machinery in the laboratory once more, Vaughn adorned a wry smile as he turned to look at Valyr.

"With the foundation I had built up while trying to recreate humans through Project Rebirth, one would assume that Operation Hope was far simpler in comparison," said the man with a shrug.

"After all, all I needed to do was to modify the humans I was making in a way where their physical qualities were more or less similar to the humans of the past."

"Though such a level of strength was still lacking when compared to those like the orcs or the werebeasts, it was at least enough for them to fend for themselves."

At those words, the man's smile turned bitter as he then shook his head.

"2,000 years."

"It took 2,000 years for Operation Hope to finally reach completion."

Hearing that, Valyr looked at the man with slight confusion, unsure whether the man was telling him good news or not.

Recalling that the time it took for Vaughn to complete Project Rebirth was longer than that, the young man scratched the back of his head as he returned his gaze towards the memory to look for answers.

Fortunately, it did not take long for him to figure out why the man showed such a reaction, even though Operation Hope was completed at a far less time.

Running parallel to a sight of Vaughn working tirelessly in the laboratory was the sight of Veldanyr during the Age of Darkness.

Though the bouts of rampage Vaughn had dealt to the three other races had definitely instilled fear into the three other races for quite some time, such fear eventually faded away after realizing that it would not happen again.

Unsurprisingly, the other races returned to making use of the humans like they were using them before, with some even going so far as to utilize the humans of the new age in far worse conditions.

Of course, Vaughn wasn't oblivious towards this as he took a look at what was going on in the world every once in a while.

Seeing how the three other races were treating the humans poorly again just because his threat had disappeared, the man lamented and apologized in his heart to all of the humans, reminding himself of the atrocities that happened during the Great Cataclysm.

Then, with even greater fervor, he put all of his focus and a bit more into Operation Hope, immediately making great leeway into the project after just a few decades.

Making use of the knowledge he had obtained from the past in regards to rewriting genetic code, Vaughn had gotten close to creating a new generation of humans that could somewhat stand up to the other races in that span of time.

However, as if the heavens were making a mockery of his efforts, the entire thing fell flat on the final step.

"Grrr…"

Though the humans Vaughn created at this point were complete and had greater power than before, they did not have the self-awareness nor the sentience that a human should have.

Instead, the humans he made seemingly tapped into their primal instincts, reminding Vaughn once more of the feral humans he'd made before successfully completing Project Rebirth.

"Right. Because I was aiming to do the same thing back then, this happened," said Vaughn as he looked at the results with a bitter smile.

Giving himself some time to go over his thoughts as he properly made use of the feral humans he'd made, Vaughn took a stab at Operation Hope once more.

But this time around, he was going to try and combine the power the feral humans had with the sentience of the humans he had successfully created.

With that, he'd spent a total of a thousand years in the endeavor, slowly inching closer and closer to the completion mark.

Yet, seeing how the humans of the new age were continuously being worked to death by the three other races without any shred of remorse, Vaughn was eventually forced to give up on the path and searched for another path instead.

"To be honest, if I didn't think about how many more humans would live miserable lives under the three races, I would've probably succeeded in it," said Vaughn, giving Valyr more information on what was happening.

Not long after, he adorned a bitter smile. "However, it would definitely take tens of thousands of years at the very least."

Fortunately, the Vaughn of the past had quickly found a path that would allow him to complete Operation Hope, making use of a resource he hadn't thought of using back in Project Rebirth.

"Myself."

Though the heavens seemed to bar him from genetically modifying the physical qualities of the humans he created, the heavens did not bar him from infusing his blood into the humans whatsoever, which had already been enhanced through genetic modification.

By the time 2,000 years had passed, the man had refined and modified the process to the point where it was no problem for him to create the new type of humans en masse, all of which were imbued with a hint of his blood.

Surprisingly, just a small hint of his blood was enough to elevate the physical qualities of the humans by a few times, causing Vaughn to smile in satisfaction.

Nevertheless, with how his initial idea for Operation Hope had failed, the man decided to embark on another project alongside Operation Hope, making use of the knowledge he'd accrued through both projects to elevate the strength of humans one step further.

One step closer to the strength he had.

"Though I could only create a few of them, these humans would undoubtedly mark the beginning of the new era, their strengths more than enough for them to rule the continent once the system had awakened."

"Because of that, to differentiate them from the other humans, I called these ones…"

"Heralds.
