Primitive Man

Chapter 87: Please do it for me

Eva remained silent, but Garnt continued, his words pouring out with sincerity. "I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you've done for me. You've been there for me, supported me, and guided me through so much. I can never repay the debt I owe you for your kindness and help."

With sadness still glistening in his eyes, Garnt pressed on. "We may have hit a roadblock with the existence of that creature, but I truly believe that as long as we keep working together, we'll find a way to overcome it. We'll find a solution that can help your daughter. Please, Eva, don't give up. You're not alone in this anymore. We're a team, and we're in this together."

Eva's expression remained one of sadness, but Garnt could see a glimmer of hope in her change of tone. Though she didn't respond immediately, Garnt could sense that his words had touched her. They had been through so much together, and he was determined to be there for her just as she had been for him.

"Also please don't leave me! You're just as important to me as my mother," Garnt said with his genuine feelings, and Eva didn't even know how to respond.

She kept thinking for a few seconds about the possibilities and the memories of Amel came to her mind.

[The system! Yes, I totally forgot about it, but do you remember what that traitor said to you?]

Garnt shook his head, since he wasn't even conscious when all of this was happening, even though he kept his eyes open.

[He called me a fraud, not you. He specifically pointed out that his 'guardian spirit' is better than me.]

"Does that mean?" Garnt understood what she was trying to say.

[Yes, it's another system. But-]

Eva paused for a minute, as she couldn't imagine anyone else having the power to become a system that could travel the time.

[Without the power of the stones from the meteor, no one can become something like me]

Saying those words, her memories went back to the research that was the most confidential experiment of the government.

[After that explosion, I thought all of my teammates died, but it looks like something must have happened that I didn't know.]

Garnt was listening to her, as he saw several memories that unlocked to him that were locked in. It was like an archive that had been hiding from him, suddenly decided to open up as he was overloaded with information and memories of Eva.

"Eva, let's find him. Both of us have something we can get from this. I know just because you feel bad for me, you won't stay here. You're not a woman like that," Garnt said since he was out of options. "Just like earlier, we both have something we can gain from this. Also, I want to help you, since I consider you my family."

Eva felt bad that she was even thinking about leaving Garnt when he was this nice to her. At this moment, she couldn't help but accept that Garnt was not just a host to her anymore. She was more like a good friend or a son to her.

Eva's heart softened at Garnt's words, and a genuine smile touched her lips. In the beginning, she had viewed her existence as a system, a detached entity here to accomplish a mission. But now, something had changed. She had discovered a bond, a connection, a sense of belonging she hadn't expected from a Stone Age man.

[You're right, Garnt,]

Eva said, her voice filled with warmth.

[I can't just leave you, especially after everything we've been through together. We'll find out what happened after that explosion, and we'll do it together. I want to uncover the truth about the dinosaurs too.]

With a determined look in her eyes, Eva and Garnt began planning their next steps. They decided to start by retracing their steps back to Amel and the dinosaur, but right now Garnt had to focus on healing himself since Gundo was rather strict with him.

"Kara! I'm sorry you have to do all this," Garnt muttered those words, after looking at the red haired girl next to him, who was wiping his back and serving him like a servant.

She smiled hearing his words, and shook her head. "Garnt, you don't have to apologize," Kara replied, her eyes filled with genuine concern. "We're a family, and taking care of each other is what we do. Besides, we need you in good shape for what's ahead."

The people in Garnt's village understood how important he was and why they couldn't ever replace their patriarch, since his ability to lead them and keep them as a group was unmatched.

"Uhhh~Kara, I'm sorry," Garnt said almost looking guilty, since he didn't feel like he deserved Kara after refusing her.

"What are you talking about? Are you talking about your relationship with my mother?" She asked straightforwardly without any hesitation almost like she had come to a decision.

"Yes, I don't want to break your heart but-" Kara suddenly closed Garnt's mouth without letting him talk, and she showed a proactive smile on her face.

"I don't care. I will be aggressive. Mother told me that you can't see me as a woman, so I will work on myself to be the best woman I can be. I won't give up on you. You are my everything and even if you want, I'm not ready to give up my everything."

Garnt was already shaken up by her tough attitude and he had to wonder whether she was really Kara that played with him like a little sister.

[Oh my! Such a bold girl, if my daughter was alive I would like her to have the same attitude.]

Eva suddenly said, but her tone then changed.

[And I won't allow my daughter to date a cheating bastard like you. Don't get any funny ideas.]

"I won't!" Garnt shouted inside his mind, but then both Eva and Garnt started to smile as they felt relieved.

"It's only the beginning. We are going to do big things and this partnership of us will be the best tool that we can ever have to improve this world and achieve our goals,"

With newfound motivation and determination, the weeks passed. Garnt resumed his role as the leader of the village, and this time also, he had the unwavering support of the girls, including Kara, Ayra, Unami, Rona, and Gundo.

They all saw the potential in Garnt's vision and were ready to work alongside him to make it a reality no matter how hard it was.

The village mourned the loss of their men who had given their lives in the battle. The entire community felt the weight of the tragedy, and many feared that their efforts to rebuild and improve their lives would be hampered. However, Garnt stood before them with a resolute expression.

"We won't slow down. We won't fail, we won't bow our heads." he declared, his voice strong and unwavering. "We will take revenge on those who caused all this grief and loss. We owe it to our fallen friends and our village. Together, we will rise stronger than ever before."

The villagers, still grieving but inspired by Garnt's determination, began to find hope and purpose once more. They understood that they had a long and challenging journey ahead of them, but with Garnt's leadership and the support of the entire community, they believed they could achieve great things.

As they laid their fallen comrades to rest, they vowed to honour their memory by working tirelessly to build a brighter future for their village.

"Also, the children of the fallen men will get the special chance to an upcoming project I have been planning and we will build a tome that states all the names of the people who died in this battle to honour them." All the people started to cheer, even though some of them were crying.

But they felt relieved to know that their family didn't die in vain. They managed to save the most precious person in this village, the man who stood above everyone else.

"I will soon make a plan to increase our population and add more people to our village, but this time-" Garnt looked at Rona, who was looking down, as if she was ready to give her head if Garnt wanted it. "Things will be strict. We will create a class system in this village.

All my old villagers are going to be closest to me that can easily contact me and know what I'm doing, but we are not going to give that privilege to new people,"

He explained the solution he came up with. "They can live their life in comfort, but only a few selected people will know what we are doing in this village. And it's for the best,"

With this new village structure, Garnt aimed to build a bigger and better village, one that wouldn't have to go through the same tragedy again, even if they had to fight both dinosaurs and Amel at the same time.
