Stuck as a Villain!

Chapter 83: Stuck?

Chapter 83: Stuck?

Caroline had a face full of shock and disbelief as she saw the battle between the floor boss and the man who introduced himself as just a mere newbie strategist previously. It was strange that he was able to use his Soul Energy when she or the other assassin was completely on their physical might alone.

However, Caroline was also sure that even with Soul Energy she wouldn’t have tackled everything while remaining unscathed like the boy was. He just played with his opponent and claimed victory in maybe the shortest duration possible.

Caroline was amazed.

After the battle came to halt, both the man and the woman who strangely was calling him ‘young master’ walked in her direction as Caroline also steadied herself on her feet after she drank some low-grade healing potions.

“What was your name again...hmm…Carla, right?”

Hearing his query Caroline just nodded and remained indifferent despite her wanting to ask a lot from him.

Despite knowing her real name Seth decided to play passive for now and see how this goes from here on before he could decide whether Caroline was of any use to him or not.

Currently, his primary reason for concern remained in the fact that he was the only one among the others who were able to utilize his soul energy. And not only that. Seth felt his synchronization with his skills and the control over his Soul Energy also seemed magnified if compared to what he was used to before entering this strange dungeon.

From what he heard from Lara, it seemed that just after they were ambushed only the raid leader Erwin along with Caroline and Lara was able to remain conscious however that didn’t last long.

The normal goblins which would never pose any kind of threat to the group suddenly began to overpower them. Erwin was weakened enough to get preyed on by the hordes of the green-skinned creature not so long after their battle began.

Just like Seth others were also out cold lying on the ground, but unlike Seth, they didn’t have the protection of Lara which resulted in their death not so long after. Thanks to the fact that the goblins got engaged in killing the other humans which provided Caroline the opening to bisect five of the creatures before she got surrounded.

Just like that, Seth’s first dungeon team was subtracted more than half within two hours.

‘Hah…never expected this development…’

As he sighed, Seth handed both Lara and Caroline an advanced-grade potion which they accepted half reluctantly. Seth was surprised to see that even after going through so many phases in her life, Caroline still possessed such humbleness.

“For us to conquer this dungeon, we have to rely on each other. So just accept it.”

Hearing Seth’s words Caroline stared at him for a long second before she nodded and with a polite bow of gratitude, downed the potion with three big gulps.

As both the ladies enjoyed the warming sensation, Seth fell into deep contemplation about their situation.

The reason why he was able to use his skills without any problem seemed to lie in the ring which he recently got from the vault. Maybe there was any other reason but Seth didn’t ponder about it much since he was more focused on how to tread from here on.

Looking at Lara’s condition he could tell that she wasn’t in her best shape despite her trying to mask it. He again was baffled to see that unlike him, the advanced potions didn’t have many drastic changes on them.

“Young master. I have a feeling that we are the only humans present inside the dungeon, which implies that your security is in serious complication. I beg you to please retreat right now.”

Seth understood what Lara was trying to indicate with her words. Apart from them he also didn’t sense any other presence which meant that probably the two shadow guards responsible for Seth’s security weren’t with them inside the dungeon. Seth had a hunch about the reason behind which brought his response to Lara’s plead.

“I do want to get out of this eerie dungeon, but I fear whether there is any way to exit remaining?”

As Seth said he began to walk in the direction from where they came. The other two glanced at each other in perplexion before they started following the young man in astonishment.

Seth was not sure what was wrong with the Dungeon or what unseen scenario might arise if he descends the floor, so he would have naturally chosen to exit the place. But that was where the problem arises.

“As I thought…”

As Seth said he waved his hand at the entrance of the dome which had a translucent hue enshrouded over. As soon the barrier felt some presence nearing, raven threads like current started channeling toward the entity, covering Seth’s hold hand with ominous sparkle.

“The art of corruption eh…”

Hearing Seth’s words and witnessing what was twirling over his hand and slowly trying to envelop his whole arm, the other two shuddered before Seth took out another advanced healing potion and poured it on his arm. To not let the liquid drip down he used his skill to coat his hand until the effect of the Corruption doesn’t subdue.

The art of corruption was a unique and forbidden practice of pushing someone into insanity and sleazing their Soul Energy to turn them into something entirely different. Beasts and other monsters generally get corrupted rather readily because of their versatile soul core but humans generally explode to hundreds of pieces or no longer remain themselves if they try to achieve Corruption.

Those who succeeded are few in number and humanity doesn’t regard them as their own anymore.

The barrier on the dungeon entrance was a form of Corruption art that could turn anyone into either an insane being or bestow their death if they try to walk through it.

“Young m-master…this…”

The tremble in Lara’s voice was justified and even without looking, Seth could tell that the other beauty was thoroughly shocked as well.

The reason for their fret stems from the fact that something they could have never expected or prepared for has already occurred.

Turning his gaze toward the two, Seth affirmed their worries in a solemn tone.

“It seems…a Temple has spawned in the dungeon…”

--------------------------------------------------------

Outside of the big dome, two black figures could be seen currently standing on a random rooftop while staring at the chaotic scene that ensued near the gate where Seth entered an hour or s ago.

These two figures were none other than the two shadow guards who were sent to protect Seth from any unforeseeable circumstances.

After Seth entered the dungeon they naturally tried to follow behind but upon sensing the black thread-like currents, they backed away and the first thing they did was to contact their superior, Shin.

“So what did he say?”

A feminine voice that belonged to the fourth-ranked General among the seven, Ava, spoke to her partner as he returned with the message Shin transmitted.

Knux exhaled deeply as with a solemn look he replied to the girl.

“Shin said to not interfere and stay put. His suspicion of the young master brought such a decision and from the looks of it, he is not going to inform Lady Valarie as well. He said if the young master is really the person they believe he is then he should conquer the dungeon on his own.”

Hearing his words Ava’s scarlet eyes widened as she rebutted soon after.

“Has he gone nuts? If something happens to Young master, both you and I will get obliterated from existence before we could even ask my lady for forgiveness. And if he returns alive then the whole Order would get the death penalty since Young master would not remain silent on the matter once he walks out of there!”

Knux sighed as he already knew what Ava just blabbered and he was fairly agitated as well. More than his death he was guilty of betraying his mistress which was unforgivable in every sense.

But…

“Until we have these…”

Showing the small ruby implanted on his chest Knux continued in a dark tone,

“…we can’t possibly go against Shin, can we?”
