Chapter 416 - Fortunately, You Found Me
Xia Yu glanced at the man seating in her passenger's seat and thought that the situation was rather funny.
Just a few hours ago, it was this man who had dragged her into his car. The situation has now changed and it was her time to drag him into her car.
Their gazes met briefly before Xia Yu continued to focus on her driving.
"How did you find me?" Huo Yun Chen asked.
No words can describe how surprising it was for him to see this person appear next to him to drag him away from that place. He was too happy to see a face that he could recognize.
He was tired from running around and now that he was seating safely in her car, Huo Yun Chen could finally let his guard down.
"I saw them posting about you on your fans' chatting group."
Huo Yun Chen raised a brow.
Apparently, this nurse had also joined his fans' chatting group.
He still thought that it was hard to believe that Xia Yu was an old-time fan, especially after he had thought that she was his anti-fan.
"The fans kept an update on your search," Xia Yu continued. "I followed their clue and looked around. Fortunately, I found you before them."
Huo Yun Chen heaved a sigh of relief. "Yes. Fortunately, you found me."
Xia Yu continued to drive and finally pulled over at a park farther away from where his fans were still looking for him. In the past, she would often run over to this place to hide whenever she had another argument with her mother.
She knew this place best. Not many would come to this park at this hour.
Turning around, Xia Yu grabbed a bottle of drinking water and handed it to Huo Yun Chen. "You should be tired after running around. Have something to drink first."
Huo Yun Chen twisted the cap and found that it was uncapped. Because of his profession, he was always cautious about his food and drink. He would only drink from an unopened bottle.
"Thank you. Nurse Xia, you are very considerate."
Their surrounding was dark. Only the faint light from a nearby streetlight flowed into the car. Because they were sitting next to each other, Xia Yu could see his face clearly. Now that they were out of danger, Xia Yu began to notice their closeness.
She could hear his breathing and his scent. And... the way his Adam apple's bobbed as he drink some water.
A few seconds later, Xia Yu rolled down the window slightly. The air in her car began to feel a little suffocating and her heart was beating up loudly.
The cold air blew into her face, waking her up from some strange thoughts.
Xia Yu turned to look at the man again and caught him staring at her. Her heart skipped a beat but she was quick to compose herself. "Didn't you say that no one would be able to figure out your disguise? How did they find out about you?"
The corner of his lips twitched. Huo Yun Chen was too embarrassed to say out loud what had happened. After all, it was a little... stupid.
Seeing that Xia Yu was still looking at him and waiting for his answer, Huo Yun Chen then told her how he had given his ID to register a room at the hotel and was recognized.
Just as he had thought, Xia Yu was looking at him in disbelief.
Xia Yu was his fan and somehow, he felt as if he had let her down with his carelessness.
As her idol, he wanted her to look up to him. But now, he was in such a bad situation and he was too embarrassed.
"Usually, it was my assistant who would make any hotel reservation for me," Huo Yun Chen confessed.
Xia Yu decided not to comment lest she would hurt his ego. But that does not mean that she did not think of him as silly.
"This time, I came to A City without informing my assistant or manager," Huo Yun Chen continued. "This trip was a private matter"
Xia Yu looked into the dark night again, wanting to calm her heart. This man had come to A City especially for her and somehow got into trouble for it. Xia Yu was feeling a little bit excited and guilty at the same time.
"Oh right."
Huo Yun Chen's voice snapped her out of her trance.
"I almost forgot. Can I charge my phone here? My phone is dead and I need to call my manager to tell him that I am safe."
Xia Yu made a gesture. Fortunately, her car was equipped with a charging port.
Huo Yun Chen plugged in the power source to his phone and waited for the battery to charge. He only needed to raise the battery to a few percent before he could turn his phone on and call his manager.
"What are you planning to do now?"
"I don't know." A heavy sigh escaped him. "I was thinking to get back to my car and head back to Capital City. However, my car was parked in front of the hotel."
"Don't go back," Xia Yu spoke quickly. "The fans and reporters were still gathering outside the hotel. It seemed that they are already expecting for you to return."
A look of surprise crossed his face. Huo Yun Chen did not think that his fans would be this enthusiastic. Even the reporters got the news of his visit to A City.
After he had gained popularity, his manager and assistant would always ensure his safety. He was used to facing some reporters, but this was the first time that he was facing his fans like this.
Huo Yun Chen groaned as he thought about his furious manager.
His phone was finally charged to a few percent. Huo Yun Chen pressed the power button and waited for his phone to start. A few seconds later, his phone started to buzz nonstop.
Huo Yun Chen looked at the number of notifications he received and braced himself.
Just as he had thought, there were hundreds of messages in his inbox. Most of them came from his assistant and manager.
He looked up and saw that Xia Yu was looking at him. He let out a cough and decided to explain. "It's my manager."
Xia Yu nodded. "You should tell him your whereabouts. He should be very worried."
"Hmm..." Huo Yun Chen nodded. After a brief hesitation, Huo Yun Chen decided to give his manager a call.
The moment the phone was connected, the manager's angry voice reverberated in the car.
"Huo Yun Chen, you better tell me what are you up to?"
The two of them looked at each other. Xia Yu cleared her throat and spoke, "I better go outside. You stay here and talk to your manager."
Before Huo Yun Chen could say anything, Xia Yu had already walked out.
