From the first day that Huo Yun Chen had asked her to consider being in a relationship with him, Xia Yu had always given it a serious thought.

Initially, she had planned to reject him. Xia Yu had always considered his background and considered them as unsuitable.

Huo Yun Che was someone who deserved to be in the light while she was better off to stay in the shadow.

Sometimes, Xia Yu had thought that perhaps Huo Yun Chen only wanted to try something new. He saw that she was different than other girls and thought that he wanted to get to know her.

She had considered that perhaps after he was bored with her, Huo Yun Chen would dump her right away.

As someone who had been following him as his fan, Xia Yu's intuition told her that Huo Yun Chen was not that kind of person.

At least, she was confident in her taste.

However, that was not the reason for her to accept him.

During the time when she was recuperating in Lin You's apartment, Huo Yun Chen had always been concerned about her. Even though they could not see each other face to face, the man would often call her to check on her.

Xia Yu knew that the more she interacted with him, the more she started to feel for him.

Something inside her continued to fight.

She did not think that she deserved to be with him but there was also a part of her that said that she deserved to be happy.

His action moved her heart and Xia Yu thought that perhaps, she should give herself a chance to be happy.

Her heart was urging her to take this chance.

Even though she did not know what would be the outcome, she wanted to give herself this chance.

Huo Yun Chen continued to stare at her with a dazed expression. He almost could not believe his ears and thought that they were playing tricks on him.

A while ago, he was ready to hear her rejection.

After spending his time knowing Xia Yu, Huo Yun Chen could understand her thought and temperament. With her life and experience, Xia Yu had become someone who did not think that she deserved to be happy.

This was the reason he had become dumbfounded the moment he heard her words.

Did Xia Yu just tell him that she wanted to give it a try? Wait. Give what a try?

Seeing that the man did not say a word for a long time made Xia Yu anxious. Her mind was running wild and she began to wonder whether he had changed his mind.

"Huo Yun Chen?"

He snapped out of his trance and blinked. "Hmm?"

"What do you think?" Her palms were sweaty as she waited for his reaction.

If... he changed his mind, then she would be too embarrassed to face him. Perhaps she would not dare to face him anymore.

Xia Yu lowered her head, wondering if it was not too late for her to back away. However, she suddenly found that something was blocking the light in front of her. She looked up and found that his arms wrapped around her body.

"Thank you. Xia Yu, I promise you that I would not let you regret this decision." His breath brushed against her neck. "You did not know how worried I was. I thought that you would reject me."

She could hear his voice trembled as he spoke clearly to her ear. "Why would you be worried?"

"I think that I liked you more than I have thought. And I'm not ready to hear your rejection."

His answer surprised her. Xia Yu lowered her eyes and a faint smile curled on her lips. But the doubt in her heart started to appear again, making her thoughts run wild with negative thoughts.

"Xia Yu, you're one of the bravest people I know. You are very beautiful just like this."

When he stayed by her side after that accident, Huo Yun Chen could not help but think of his previous self.

Back then, he had an accident and had almost lost the chance to walk again. He was so angry that he almost gave up on everything.

However, Xia Yu was very different than him.

Even though she was injured badly and had faced her mother and onlookers scolding, the girl continued to stand tall. She would not let them bring her down.

He had watched as she recuperated obediently while staying with Lin You. This girl had never complained about her hardship.

It made him look up to her but her independence was making him helpless.

The more he knew her, the more his feelings continued to grow. She gave him the feeling of wanting to protect her even if she might not need him around.

Hearing his words, Xia Yu could feel her eyesight begin to blur as her tears began to pool.

Xia Yu took a deep breath, forcing herself not to cry and make him worry.

After a while, Huo Yun Chen pulled away. He pushed a few strands of hair behind her ear and rested his palm on her face. His thumb moved back and forth on her cheek, caressing her.

His eyes were staring at her, unblinking.

They were too penetrating that it was making her shy. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Huo Yun Chen smiled as he watched as the tinge of pink appeared on her face. "Xia Yu, you're adorable."

"Are you teasing me?"

"Of course, not." Huo Yun Chen chuckled. "I really think that you are adorable."

Her lips pursed into a thin line. Xia Yu was wondering when did this man know how to flirt.

Finding that it was too uncomfortable to sit at the dining table in his position, Huo Yun Chen stood up and carried the girl to the sofa.

Perhaps, she was beginning to get used to having him carrying her around. This time, Xia Yu was not so surprised at his action.

Xia Yu adjusted her posture as she sat on the sofa. When she looked up again, a peck suddenly landed on her lips.

Her eyes widened in surprise at the sudden kiss.

Huo Yun Chen lowered his head so that the two of them were at eye level. "Xia Yu, I want to kiss you. Can I?"

Heat crept on her face.

This man had already made his move but he still ask her this question.

Xia Yu lowered her eyes and her gaze stopped at his red, moist lips.. Then slowly, she nodded.
