Chapter 79
C79 – Over-Confident
Number Three felt as if every organ in his body had shifted, a choking sensation overwhelming him.
At that moment, he was seized by an urge to swear up a storm.
“This strength… is this even human?”
Jiang Hao seized the moment, quickly closing the distance to Number Three. With no hesitation, he delivered a solid punch to Number Three’s stomach.
Number Three slumped against the wall, collapsing to the ground, drained of strength.
His face turned ghostly pale as excruciating pain, too intense for even someone accustomed to brutal training, wracked his body.
But Jiang Hao was far from done. He charged and planted his foot firmly on Number Three’s chest.
“Puff!” A mouthful of blood spurted from Number Three’s lips.
He felt as though a truck was parked on his chest, making every breath a herculean effort.
In a last-ditch effort, Number Three summoned his remaining strength and aimed a kick at Jiang Hao’s back.
But Jiang Hao, with his keen danger perception, was not easily ambushed.
He spun around, delivering a swift uppercut directly to Number Three’s advancing knee.
“Crack!” The sound of dislocation echoed as Number Three’s leg gave out, dangling uselessly.
“Mhmm!” Despite the agony of a shattered knee, Number Three, the hardened assassin, only grunted.
Jiang Hao kicked out, striking Number Three’s waist.
Now, Number Three was thoroughly incapacitated, no longer a threat.
Jiang Hao stood over him, his expression dark and stormy.
What had gotten into him today? Why such misfortune?
“Who are you?” Jiang Hao demanded.
But faced with his questioning, the other man remained silent.
Jiang Hao scrutinized the man’s attire, a realization dawning on him.
This was the same figure he’d seen after the car accident, the source of that inexplicable feeling of being watched, the shadowy figure he’d spotted across the building.
Connecting the dots, Jiang Hao sensed that the situation was far from straightforward.
“Was that car accident earlier your doing?”
Yet, despite Jiang Hao’s probing, Number Three kept his silence.
Seeing Number Three’s reaction, Jiang Hao became even more convinced that the recent car accident was undoubtedly connected to this man.
He fixed his gaze on Number Three, furrowing his brow and pressing down with his foot slightly as he demanded, “Who are you? I don’t recognize you. Speak up, who sent you to kill me?”
Despite the blood continuously spilling from Number Three’s mouth, he remained stubbornly silent.
Jiang Hao racked his brain, trying to figure out who he might have crossed.
As he pondered, one name forcefully entered his thoughts: “Qin Ming?”
It had to be Qin Ming. After all, Jiang Hao had broken his son’s leg.
And Wan’er had mentioned just this morning that Qin Ming was out for revenge.
Now, Jiang Hao felt certain that Qin Ming was behind this.
“Was it Qin Ming who sent you?” he pressed, staring intently at Number Three, his voice laced with conviction.
This time, Number Three met his gaze with an odd look and chose to remain silent.
But Jiang Hao didn’t miss the exchange.
In an instant, everything clicked.
In recent times, his feud with Qin Shou had grown intense. No one but Qin Ming would go to such lengths to have him killed.
Yet, with Qin Ming already in custody, it was shocking that his assassin would still attempt to strike.
Now, what was his next move?
After a moment’s thought, Jiang Hao decided to call the police.
But just as he reached for his phone, Number Three’s face twisted, his expression turning vicious as he clenched his teeth.
